Thats still a sizeable contract for someone with such limited performance at the top level. I have no idea honestly what someone like him should be on though. All I know is Rashford is on too much money!!!

Yeah. I’m just thinking that if you were signing a new player of that kind of age/promise it seems reasonable. Especially for United.

I guess the trick is bringing the structure down but it’s hard to be giving Amad so much less than other players when this season he’s out performing many of them. This seems a good balance.

And theres Yamal on 35k a week (yeah I know he's only 12 years old but still). Dread to think what he will be earning once his contract needs renewing.

I think for Amad, 120k is ok, maybe a little to high for my personal liking though. 90-100k seems better.
What do I know anyway? I can just about afford to treat the wife and I to a Chippy tea tonight.

Salaries are largely a market force though. In the real world, you might be paid less than your colleagues but unless you could earn more elsewhere for similar work then your options are limited. People can point at Rashford and co. and say "but hes on X" and the club can say "those are much more senior players and we are addressing the wage imbalance over the next few years. Top performing players who have shown the ability to sustain that level over multiple seasons will be rewarded as such."

There is a chance that we will lose some good players over the next few years if we refuse to overpay people. I'm OK with that. Imagine how much less of a mess we would be in now if we hadn't spent the last 10+ years giving average players sill contracts and extending contracts to "protect players value".
