Just seen the announcement on the Nightwish feed

Bad times, Alexi Laiho, Children of Bodom frontman has died (last week actually, announced today) after battling health issues over the course of 2020.

Absolutely gutted, CoB are one of my favorite bands of all time, they got me into metal in a big way.

Sorta grew out of CoB early on in my exploration of the genre but this **** still sucks. He was only what, 40? I know he was a raging alcoholic for many years. I can only assume it caught up to him

This issue is not the producers, it's the new streaming systems. Things like YouTube and Spotify give a laughably small fee to the people who actually make the -ing music.

And one of the Spotify owners (who made about 10 million euro last year or the year before) said that he thinks the artists isn't making music quick enough...

From those two songs - themed, progressive and probably highly technical but first impression is a little lacking to be honest. I get the feeling there's a need to take a break, and spill some new blood to reinvent a little.

I've not really listened to night wish since the time of the original spit (various reasons and not really night wish.. just in general to metal and most longer sit-and-listen music).

I think I need to go through the back catalogue.. like Megadeth, Iron Maiden etc.

@ShiWarrior I like the album. It's really good but not as good as the previous one. The previous album was such a wellconnected album where this album got great songs but they don't connect to each other as well. But the variety between songs is really good and shows off the entire bands skills. I think Music will be the set opener on the next tour (whenever that will be).
