* The Metal Thread *

Hi guys, awesome thread ...... its great to see metal still getting the love it deserves.

What I am looking for is some recommendations for some new metal bands, I haven't really heard anything new that has gripped me as much as the classic metal / thrash I grew up listening to and loving.

Obviously love the usual Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer and the rest.

Seems to me most new metal bands are just rehashes of the past and unfortunately due to the proliferation of nu-metal ( if there is such a thing ) and emo based crap there seems to me to be a lack of balls out metal / thrash with the same speed, aggression and creativity that marked the 80's and the ascendency of the big four.

But I would like a few recommendations and hope to be proven wrong that all of metals great bands are from the past.

I've had new era of corruption on repeat for my walk home from work every day for the last week now :p

End of flesh is my favourite from the album, not a fan of the beginning of the track with the blast beat but when it gets into the verse which is just one long beatdown, it's just rediculously epic. :D:D:D

Anyone buy Periphery's debut album? I finally got my preorder today.
I've been listening to Bulb's work since 2007 and it's awesome to see him and Periphery finally get their album out. Their new vocalist is a grower, though I prefer Casey (their previous singer). I'm also missing their old drummer's style, especially on Icarus Lives!.

Awesome album though! Definitely check them out if you haven't already done so.

Finally got hold of this, and the instrumental version of the album too.

The vocalist is absolutely horrid, i find him really out of place and distracting, the instrumental version is so much better. So in summary, get the instrumental version, you'll appreciate it a lot more!

Went to go see Texas in July yesterday if anyone knows them :D
Been waiting ages to go see them. Was a brilliant gig, really cool guys
Though it seemed like me and about 4 other people knew who they were still put on a good show

Death before dishonour, pay no respect was there.
Pretty good hardcore show imo, nice small crowd, no more then 60 people i reckon
