The most irritating band ever?

i dont think im alone in saying that you honestly dont have a clue.

You cannot chuck your toys out of the pram every time someone on the internet says something you don't like. We are talking about what irritates us, personally. Vocoders/over the top pitch correctors irritate me. Daft Punk might be the best thing to arrive from France since Louis De Fines to you, but to me, because of the vocal effects and what those effects stand for - the impact of it on music in the last decade, for me - they are just as annoying as any next Kanye West with spastic twitch on auto correction button.

thread just seems to be full of people whos open mindedness extends too listening to the top 40/radio 1. people slating whole genres because of a couple of bad artists etc

That's how it works - if you don't like male vocalists roaring their tonsils out as if in agony from the bottom of their vermiform appendix while sharing highly aggravated thoughts on pentagrams and random fallen angels, a good bet is - you are not going to like death metal as a genre. With a lot of effort one of your mates might convince you that some of those roaring gentlemen might actually be highly skilled and vocally progressive in their angry belching, you might even acquire a form of respect to their vocal skill, but a fan you will probably never become. In similar fashion - if fat ladies meaowing italian recitativo accompagnatoes in ultra sonic registers send chills down your spine similar to those induced by styrophoam screeching against glass table, I'm going to reckon - you might not appreciate baroque opera in its entirety, as a genre, ever. And again - books have been written on subject, huge stars were created out of the skill required for the said styropham on glass performances - and yet, as much as you might hold Maria Callas in respect - the genre shall forever remain lost on your ears.
And so bad is my experience of listening to overdosing hardware and software auto-tune and pitch correctors in vocal techniques, that I will, rightly so, dismiss any genre that intentionally use it as a tool for their musical expression. It's like hurdy gurdy or early roland guitar synthesisers (think elevator music type of synth jazz ) - along with vocoder - those three can wreck any music, any song, any performance, any musical effort, regardless of how good the band, lyrics or tune is in the background.

U2, not that I hate their music which I don't mind, but they are irritating, especially the way the BBC force fed us their last album. (" And now tomorrows Weather, Presented by The Edge")

Metallica, Iron Maiden, all those clowns, I find them quite irritating.

Oh yeah, and Gangster Rap. Some of it's quite good, especially musically, but when the lyrics are basically racist, sexist and glorify violence, then I find it a bit irritating. N.W.A are one of the worst things that ever happened to Hip Hop. (Edit: just read some of this thread, apparently other people agree with me)

On a second note, anyone who doesn't like the Beatles should be sent to prison or even worse, France.

i dont think you can dislike daft punk because of the over use of vocoders now, like was previously said they done this over 10 years ago and defined a lot of eletronic work that is used today, that doesnt make them bad. its like saying the beatles are rubbish because of all the terrible bands that have claimed influence since then...

its been 5 years since they released a studio album and all there tracks are pretty much timeless as songs from Homework still sound just as good today.

im expecting good things from thier Tron soundtrack which will be released with the movie and there next studio album.

i certaintly would never call daft punk annoying, thats just insulting to what they've done. especially when you consider bands like Busted and all them factory created drones made for mass adoration by 12 year old school girls.

I can. I do.

It was annoying in 70ies. It was annoying in 80ies. It's annoying now. By default, it was also annoying 10 years ago.

and defined a lot of eletronic work that is used today,

I know, it also provided artistic license and precedence to a degree - "talentless drones of the world, you can now pretend that you sing, aaaaaaall album long".

that doesnt make them bad.

No, them in particular, probably does not make bad. Irritating to my ears though - yes it does.

That sounded a bit grandeur. It's a French house duet from the outskirts of nineties electronic scene. For all intents and purposes, they are niche of niche. The OMD of New Romantic scene. The Yello of 80ies electronica. Ash Ra Tempel of space electronics. You like Daft Punk, I get that. But let's not pretend they are some milestone anchored in history.

I'm with you there.

The scissor sisters create the most irritating sound I think I've ever heard! Can't put my finger (or ear) on why I find them so offensive, but if I was exposed to their din for long I'm sure permanent damage to either me or my immediate surroundings would ensue, both probably!

Get Ready:

Oasis
Manics
Coldplay
Florence and her ****ing machine
Kooks
Killlers
Hoosiers
Scouting for girls
Embrace
Biffy Clyro
Snow Patrol
Radiohead
Franz Ferdinand
Arctic Monkeys
Kaiser Chiefs
The Feeling

And that's just to be getting on with.

Florence & the machine is starting to annoy me. Really cant stand the Kooks either.

Kings of Leon..well, I loved their first 2/3 albums. The last one just does my head in.

I wouldn't call Coldplay, Radiohead, Muse & Oasis 'Biggest Bands In The World'.
That title goes to the likes of U2, the Beatles, ACDC, Metallica, Iron Maiden and others who have worldwide appeal.

I'd say Coldplay are worldwide, Muse are getting there slowly.

sooooooooo following on from this thread...anyone listen to the new hot chip stuff?

I think One Life stand and Take it in are fantastic tracks :P

I quite like Hot Chip, Ready for the Floor is a tune :)

Arctic Monkeys for me, his northern accent just grates after any length of time at all!
