Haha, you actually listened to Vacant Stare? One of my mates from school, Nik, was the guitarist with them. They were turd :p

I got in a fight with him.

I was using them as an example of Nu-metal. Never said I was a fan ;)

Dont think anyone mentioned the poor influences. For me it has to be Nirvana and the grunge scene. It made music generally speaking in the 90's bloody aweful. Hence why I went from listening to Metal to Dance.

Wasnt until the late 90's that I started listening to Metal again.

Nirvana killed music in general until about '96.

Which was a damn good year.

In your opinion, which metal/rock bands have changed the scene for better or worse, which ones have had the most impact and influence?

I can be obvious and mention Sabbath for 'inventing' the metal sound we know and love but also metallica for the massive explosion of speed/thrash metal.

thoughts?

Guns 'n Roses and Nirvana. Helped to kill off "big hair" metal and paved the way for many bands we have today.

I think that the main problem with Nirvana (Who in my opinion are/were excellent) were the amount of people trying to borrow a bit of their sound but not managing to come close.

And if we are mentioning Nirvana, should we throw The Pixies into the ring also?
