Bank is starting to really do my nut in now, They have an issue with the deposit proof. It is short by £43 really! REALLY!

Can not believe they see £43 as being an issue.

We have all the money across many accounts but man, Now got to go through it all again, to make sure they have the correct documents from the Broker.

Put the money in one account?

Simple.

Has anyone used a mortgage broker (that doesn't charge a fee before finding you a mortgage?). Any positive experiences?

Considering one considering I'm still in my work probation period (and don't want to be turned down from multiple mortgages)

My broker got his fees from Natwest and the other companies I signed up to.

Didn't cost me a penny.

We used a broker and will be engaging with the same guy in a month or so as we come to remortgage.

He gave us 2 options. We could either pay him £750 to do the mortgage arrangement and we'd get back the rebate from the mortgage company or we pay him nothing and he gets the rebate.

We paid him nothing and he got a rebate of about £1800. He was open with us about the about of the rebate so we knew the facts before making a decision. We'll do the same again this time.

Yes... Ill probably be one of few people in their 20's in a bungalow. At least I'm set for retirement :p.
A dated one at that :o (till I do it up..)

Anyone recommend any solicitors? I'll need to arrange one. Is it generally done locally?

You can choose a solicitor from anywhere in the country.
I'd keep Scotland/England separate though due to the differing processes (not sure of your location)

Pic of your purchase?

Not yet bought (need to go thru the motions etc), but accepted offer (I understand from this thread the process takes ages).

To save me from linking to external sites:

(a lot of work to do!).
Ocuk better not undercut me..

England (Shame as Scotland is easier to buy (and cheaper!))

To hope it comes back on again, you must really love the house. Its a real shame when this happens, hope you get something sorted soon.

We really like the house! One of the positives too is that we are happy with the price. Since we had our offer accepted house prices have only gone up. If we start looking again we're probably looking at having to add a fair whack on to what we have already have accepted.

Was the rate better than you otherwise could have found on your own? How big was the fee? Also how much mortgage and % LTV if you don't mind me asking

Yes rate was better than what i could find myself. Also the mortgages they could offer were not necessarily available to the mainstream market and only available to brokers.

It was fee free for me, a bonus considering i needed to as much money for my deposit. The lender gave him circa £1800 or so.

LTV was 25% - a must in my case considering the amount i borrowed (approx £700k). I think the lender must have been on good terms with my broker as i could borrow without too much hassle.

Thinking of pulling out of my purchase because of the news today.
What do we think it's going to do? If prices drop by a significant amount and we have another recession I'll not be able to move again for a long time. We've put a 35% deposit down so it's unlikely we'll be in negative equity any time soon though.

Hmmmm.

I was due to exchange on a purchase today or Monday. Not sure what to do now. In any case the decision may be made for me if anyone in the chain gets cold feet.

:(
