I think they're decent humans, don't get me wrong - but £5.5k excluding VAT and then they have the cheek to throw a £40 identity check charge on top?

I'm in the wrong trade.

What?!? Are you selling a palace? The number 1 seller in my area does fixed for £2k plus vat.

Ah our selling fees were/are £799 fixed (not a linked %)

ID check? here's me passport :p was my answer haha

We were cajoled into using that thirdfort app that a lot of companies seem fond of, literally take a selfie, and use the RFID on the passport.
Surely a copy of the passport would've done? swines

Yeah lesson learned for the future. Tbh I don't buy that estate agents, especially in this market, do anything other than "order take". People will pay what they're willing to pay, with some scams like closed and sealed bids to drive it up fractionally.

Not sure where you're based but 1%+VAT would've been cheap for our flat sale in London earlier this year

Did you have to go above asking?

At least if it needs work you can stamp it with your own taste.
Yea i still did and so did all the other 5 offers that were made. We will just pay the difference if the valuation matches at least the asking price.

Scared to negotiate down now unless the surveyor comes back with some worrying stuff.

And yes, at least we can do it to our own taste.

We get the heating and wiring all upgraded first and then me and the missus will get rid of the carpets and sand the floorboards down for now until we later sort out other stuff .

Maybe we can knock down a wall ourselves or would that need some expertise to do it? wont a hammer do the trick? hehe

Success... have exchanged. Just need to sort Home Insurance now, and book in the removal van. £1200...ffs...

For my house I did the move from rental myself. Moved loads of stuff from Lincolnshire to South Glamorgan.

I've never been more exhausted in my life. Stress, timings, moving washing machine, freezer, loads of crap.

Never driven so many miles in 2 days.

Congrats on the exchange!

Yeah I did it from rental to this place but we've now got beds, sofas, bikes, etc...

It's 3 chaps and a big truck so probably not that crazy in terms of value for money.
