The internet one is odd, America doesn't really "go dark" and the internet usage picks up in the morning long before it does in Europe/asia, but doesn't peak as high?

Quite looks like America goes to watch tv in the evening and stops downloading, the rest of the world wakes up and downloads that tv :p
 
I have no idea, looks like an attempted robbery in which a chummy gets beaten and is rescued by his theiving scum friend.

It was a staged shot advertising a women's self-defence class or something similar. In some east-Asian country - Thailand or Korea maybe...

I forget the precise details, but it was on reddit a few days back. The exact details will be in the comments to the reddit thread if anyone cares enough to reverse image search it.



Regarding the internet gif - bear in mind that the US actually has pretty poor average connection speeds in comparison to a lot of developed countries - mostly caused by a lack of competition. There's a lot of places where a license has been sold by local government to one supplier, who then has no incentive to improve speeds or keep reasonable prices.

The evening usage definitely follows a different pattern to the rest of the world though...

Actually... I think that image is measuring the access of sites not accesses from sites. So, since the EU makes a big usage of US sites it makes sense that peak usage would correspond with the time when both US and EU would be active.
 
I really was quite serious about the tv thing. Loads of people torrent/usenet tv shows, and due to time and potential off peak limits it's not surprising that this would peak in the evening when people get home, turn comps on and start downloading. America mostly has no need for this. I know loads of people still do due to cutting out adverts, not having channels like HBO and other reasons. But a significant portion of people just watch the shows as they are on.

It's the only thing I can think people would consistently download. Like, yeah download a game on steam but it's mostly a one off. But heavy downloading every day, millions of people downloading tv is a lotta gb's.

Fine, edited, although I did not use the term initially, it was the name given to the picture when quoted by someone else.
I've edited to remove the word, but frankly don't care if someone finds it offensive. Bad luck if they do. I am pretty sure any transsexual person will have heard much worse in their life, ratherr than someone using a term to debate the origins of a gif on the internet.

Don't worry it is your thread too, feel free to post a gif if you like, it has been eight weeks since you did.

I disagree, I worked in gay clubs for years, and have a lot of transsexual/gay lesbian friends,

and we refer to transsexuals as tranny's, as do we refer to Homosexuals as Homo's,

is it PC to say this, well no....but in real life, it is the norm.

If there are any Gay men/women in here? I would truly love to hear your views on this, is it offensive to you?
