Yeah, it's pretty sad. The way the kid raises his/her arms when the stranger walks up... That and the "WTF" look on the guy's face when the bike drives away. Quite moving.

Did the guy drive off angry, like to teach the kid a bizzare lesson, then go back and pick it up?
Thats so sad, the utter devestation of a child who thinks it has been abandoned.
Bet the guy who gave it back spent the week wondering if he had done the right or wrong thing.

If you've been to almost anywhere in Asia you can see how this would happen.

Mopeds are cheap and cars expensive, so people carry their kids on mopeds all the time. It's obvious that the kid stepped off the moped just as the guy pulled away. Scary moment but totally an accident.
