The screens have been unbreakable for a while, this is nothing new.
When phones are dropped it's the digitiser and / or glass on top the cracks.

This. The majority of breaks on phones/tablets etc. are the digitiser. A screen is a lot more expensive. Like twice as much as the digitiser IIRC.

There is such a thing as too thin when it comes to phones IMO. Without it's case, even my SGII is too thin for my large hands and just feels awkward and constantly on the verge of slipping.
Definitely wouldn't want something that's basically like a piece of paper no matter how cool it looked.
