The new animated image thread

Why has my post above been deleted and an "animated gifs, you're doing it wrong" message left in it's place by a moderator? The thread's title clearly states "The Animated IMAGE thread" not 'The Animated gifs thread', and my post contained animated images.

So exactly what are the rules?

If you have a question you should contact the moderator concerned.

To be fair, it seems like a perfectly reasonable question that will benefit all posters, as the response will make it clear if the animated images HAVE to be gifs.

If this is about .gifv, then it's really just an mp4 video, not a traditional animated image.

so you cant post a .gifv? because its not an animated image or is it the size ?

gifv are usually smaller file sizes with higher quality. But it is a video, not an image. Same for webm.

I think it's just that this version of vbulletin doesn't support html5 video. That's why a nuke and reboot is needed and a switch to a more modern open source BBS.
