Used to have a Gigabyte 3d Aurora case :)

I can pointer? Not done a lot of mods to mine yet, but the plans are in place...

Yes please. I'm finding it a bit tricky finding a way to get wires round the back as the side wall goes top to bottom :S Unless they could go under the mobo.

As you can see, an horrific mess XD

First off I think your PSU is upside down the fan should be facing upwards as there's only a little gap between the bottom and the PSU.

Also if you turned it over, you can run the 4pin you've got going over the graphics card underneath the graphics card, can you see there is a gap between the back of the case and the socket? You can run it up there.

Basically what this case requires is holes chopping in it to run the cables behind, there is a fair bit of space between the motherboard tray and the other side panel. I tried running cables underneath the motherboard, it's never going to work really, it just doesn't stand proud enough.

You could also drop your hard drive down lower, so you can pack the excess cable away somewhere.

I also have the ram as you and a similar motherboard! Just I've got a 965 with a monster cooler in there. :P (Bet you wish you got the blue version of that ram aswell?)

You could also put some of the 24pin behind the hard drive bays it looks like?

Here're a couple of what mine used to look like, I'm tidying it up slowly but surely.

Since these I've got rid of the Antec fans, much quieter now and the cabling isn't as bad.

My planned mods are:
  • Cut holes in the motherboard tray for the front USB ports, switches and that gubbins.
  • Cut holes in the motherboard tray for 24 pin and 4 pin cables, using sleeved extenders.
  • Mount the hard drives in the 5.25" bays with some kinda quietning device, and fit them the other way round so that the cables run out of the back and down where you can't see them.
  • Remove hard drive bays and try to hide all the cables currently hidden behind them behind the motherboard tray.
  • I'm contemplating making a kind of shelf across the top of the PSU to the fron tof the case, lots of other cases have them these days to pack all the spare cables into. Can be seen here in the third pic.
  • Spray the whole thing black.
Sleeve all the case cables too, i have a sleeving kit on the way I got nice and cheap. :D

It's a pain to work with this case, but I'm sure it's do-able. The easiest thing would be to get a modular PSU though, then I'd have less cables to mess around with!

Hope this has helped.

What case do you have?

Rotate your rear exhaust fan 180degrees so the cable exits closer to the mobo, then run it along the mobo. Don't exactly know where the rear and top fans are powering from -- a controller or mobo switches? Group them if possible so the cables don't stretch to all ends of the case..

Try flipping your PSU upside down too (if your case backplate allows) so the PSU cables are exiting it nearer the mobo, then route your cables BEHIND your mobo tray (again, if your case allows), or as out-of-the-way as possible. In effect, you'll also have the benefit of the PSU fan pulling air down from the case and exhausting it out, instead of pulling air up from below (into itself then exhausting out). Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

EDIT: Looks like Muel (above) was writing just as I was :D

Whilst flipping the power supply would be beneficial in terms of cable tidying, that PSU is a PC Power & Cooling which I believe has a small exhaust fan on the back. Hypothetically speaking if it did have a larger fan which was directed over the PCB and vented out the back, then judging by the position of the cables the fan would already be facing up.

Well I'd try the PSU the other way up, just have a look at the air flow and see how it is, if you look on mine, it sucks air into the top of the PSU and exausts it out the back.

No side window. Temps were really low when processor was X2 with it unlocked they are a bit higher but still not going over 60 really so i dont think i need better air flow. Anyway i'll post new pics tomorrow maybe when i've had a play at tidying it.
