The New Cases Gallery

Yeah it's C1E/SpeedStep etc. Works great for keeping temps down and CPU fan ambience. My PC with it on is as quiet as my laptop.

THOSE are temps :p

3.59GHz is the normal spooled up speed.

You call that a knife? This is a knife... er, temps.

I don't need any speedstep :p

600-1000 RPM Nexus fans, so pretty quiet :p

PSU is the loudest thing in it by far, will have to replace it at some point. It's still not loud though, really. About the same as my PS3 slim.

looking at the start of this thread makes me a little angry, old cm cases were GORGEOUS theyve really gone downhill with the tacktastic scout and its brethren

and the antec superlanboy was a fantastic midrange case, now weve got ugliness like the antec 600.

I never realised you could get cards like that. Obviously to improve getting a better signal?

I'm moving a work computer into a 'shed' in my garden soon and was worried if the PC would be able to pick the wireless up. Does having 3 aerials help much?

I have a WRT54GL router.

It's a wireless N card so it has 3 aerials, as do all N devices.

If you don't have an N card then you won't have or need 3 aerials.

Bigger aerials just offer better gain and thus can latch onto weaker signals easily.

Thanks for reply,

Do you mean it's pointless if I don't have an N router?

What would you suggest I do as I currently have an WRT54GL router and I need to pick it up in a shed about 100m away. New router you think?
Or can you buy 'g' cards with bigger/more aerials?

100m away is quite a distance, you'd need a better aerial for your router and card(s) that has higher gain. The GL does have good aerials anyway though so maybe running Tomato firmware and boosting the wireless signal will help too but that puts strain on the router at the same time.

An N card and router is a better alternative and offers more performance too.

Aerials will be cheaper to start with though.

doesn't matter on brand, as long as the fitting is the right thread type. D-Link/Netgear etc tend to use the same size threads but Linksys/Sitecome etc use higher gain aerials which use bigger screw threads.

May have some suitable for your router but I am quite confident the router is fine, just that the GL has only 54G so you're only going to get it so far.

What wireless card do you have ?

An N upgrade would be better for speed, range and strength.

Thanks very much for reply,

Card I'll be using is a WMP54G (linksys)

So it will be best to put a higher gain aerial on BOTH router and card?
