The New Cases Gallery

I wouldn't have the CPU fan sucking the warm air off the the back of the GPU...

but at the same time, i dont want the cpu exhausting hot air onto an already warm gfx card, the card runs hotter then the cpu and seeing the difference in temps from having it the other way around, i think it's the best of a bad situation lol

I think we can conclude that the hsf is just at a wrong angle. I'd recommend you get one that goes from left to right instead of top-down down-top.

This was my point - you want one that sucks air from the front of the case and blasts it out the back :) otherwise you're just circulating the warm air around in any up/down configuration

All these very nice looking setups, here is mine to lower the bar a bit for others :D

Tis a wee bit dusty and also like a mini cooker really. The P180 isn't the best case for low temps, but it is nice and quiet. Think I will be replacing it around Xmas time, along with a new graphics card that vents out the case.

I won an Antec P183 Case on another forum and decided to use it to build a file server from parts I had left other from my last upgrade.

Will be mainly controlling it via Teamviewer, but will have it connected to a little 17" Dell 1280x1024 Monitor.

Parts in red above are the parts I have had to buy, total outlay on those items was £61.

I have also purchased 8 x 50cm Black Sata Cables for £7.80 (and will be using a couple of other adapters I already had (eg Molex to Sata Power)).

So heres some pictures of the very well built P183.

Havent decided on OS yet, gonna give Windows Home Server a trial (have a 30 day eval disc) and maybe Server 2008 R2 (have a 180 day eval disc) or I may opt for just sticking Win 7 HP on it.

Also havent completely finished building it yet as I have just put the OS Drive and ODD in for now, once Im happy with the OS I will move the other HDDs to it.

This thread takes me back....
Last time I looked it was full of CM ATCS' with Barton 3200's and 9800Pro's in them.
Ahhh, the good old days :)

Have to do something about cables in bottom, but that will require some steel cutting.

^^good job with the cables dude :)

amazing how much you can cram into a small space isn't it :) - I wouldn't worry TOO much about the ones down the bottom, it's already a billion times better in there!!

I like your fan controller too by the way :)

thx for the kind words, and it is true, that you can squeeze anything behind there and furthermore, this is one of the "bad" cases regarding cable management...

First off apologies for the poor pic quality.
