The New Cases Gallery

Now, with a cable tidy up and sorting out the cpu cooler direction + case fan.
The only annoyance is of the fan cable, which wasn't long enough so kind of in the way.

That's a pretty easy one to extend and get out of the way, kind of surprised there isn't another fan header you could have used on the motherboard though, those are usually fairly well laid out

If you really want to ensure cooler air into the CPU fan you could stick a low to mid speed Gentle Typhoon fan in the top hole, drawing air into the case, and right infront of the CPU fan would help that plan

On the motherboard? I've got the case fan attached to the 12v line which is tucked down the back. I was unaware the case fan could connect to the mobo? That motherboard is a silly design anyway, what with the power sockets being tucked right up where they are.

As for the other fan, I'm not going to spend a penny more on this after I've got some thermal paste to redo the heatsink. Its only a secondary computer with minimal chance of being used and I still may end up selling it in the next month or so to help fund memory and ssd for the imac.

I just wanted to clean it up and get the fan etc the right way so it looks presentable, plus I do love working on computers.:D

Hey mate, if I was you I'd move that vertical cathode... it's very overpowering... If it was my case, I'd mount one top and bottom shining in towards your components - actually, I did do just this in my HAF with my LED strips - one down the bottom shining up and one on the top shining down - gives a good flood effect :) plus it doesn't glare out accross the window panel making it hard to see in ;)

Ideally you want to see the light, but not the light source.

Good tip. This is what I did before. I already have one cathode at the bottom. However the problem is when placing the cathode at the top. One end of the cathode can be attached to the back of the case with glue tag. However I could only attach the other end to the top fan grill via a string. So the cathode is sort of suspended in the air lol. However when I move the case it moves about and it is annoying.
Afaik the LED strips are flexible and can be easily attached unlike the led cathodes:).

@Faztastic, was it not possible to route the 4-pin power cable through the hole closest to where it plugs in? I know that on mine, I struggled to fit the 8-pin power connector through the hole because of the space between the hole and the top of the case. Did you have the same issue?

I think the external power for Asus cards is more to do with the PCI-E bridge they use for the sound cards rather than requiring a lot of power. I hear it helps to reduce crackles and stuff from the motherboard's power delivery too.

Exactly same issue mate. it was the thickness of the 4pin that didnt allow me to get it through.

not really a new case, but new cooler and i had to remove the damn board so the work deserves pictures, oh and my first Ghetto mod HA!

Titan Fenrir cooler literally only just fits, the end of the heatpipes are mm from the case side lol Case is NZXT Gamma, got an Antec DF35 sat in a box next to me but hmmmm dunno if i should swap or not haha

i know it's old tech but meh, came from an Arctic cooling freezer 7 pro, this thing is awesome, currently idling on a Athlon II X4 635 @ 3.5Ghz with 1.45vcore @ 31c :O old cooler done 3.4Ghz @ 1.435vcore at 40c

and teh Ghetto mod
not original i know but fan had to come off the side case to allow for the Fenrir so thought why not, think i might see about getting a nice 4 pin Apache since my mobo has a spare 4 pin, Both fans are Gelids something or other running at 1k rpm

Gelid Silent 12s ^^

Was thinking of getting some of those to replace the clear/red LED Coolermaster ones in my case, have a Gelid Silent 9 on my CPU cooler and it's fairly quiet and pushes a nice amount of air. :)

I got my LED strip ziptied to the inner screw holes in my top 230mm exhaust fan hehehe sits in a nice curve and angles the light nicely over my heatsink :)

I'll give you the link to where I got them in trust if you like, I got them off a guy on ebay so I might be able to post it openly as it's not exactly a 'competitor'

Only cost me a fiver for 2x12" strips too :)

Hi, where did you get those lights from, i have red lights but there just not as bright as i thought they would be, could you send me a link or give us the name of the red lights inside your HAF,

Sorry couldnt send as private message but its disabled
