The New Cases Gallery

Quite a tight case, so bloody difficult getting the cable management right. Still, looks reasonably tidy so I'm happy :)

All that hardware and a less-than-impressive case. Come on man :eek::mad:

Well if there weren't so many unimpressive cases out there I would have changed. But this old 2008 cm690 I still perfer the outer looks of. The Antec Eleven Hundred is the only case I have considered...else there aren't really any cases I find visually pleasing in my point of view.

i quite like it tbh, what does it look like from the outside?

you obv prefer performance over looks which i respect

Thanks for the suggestion khemist. I had a quick look at the FC5 and FC6 and wasn't impressed with the naff looking cables but then I noticed the FC5V2! The black braiding on those cables looks really nice so I think I'll end up getting that one. I like the lack of gimmicks and the red display will go well with my system.

The FC6 comes with all black braided cables :)

Nice rig Roalith, love the carbon on the PSU :D

Cheers! Had a fair bit of it left over after sorting my side panels (Long story, there's a thread around somewhere...) so thought I'd make use of it. Quite happy with the result :)

I know what case that is Roalith, well done on hiding the logo.

Looking really nice.

:D

What can I say, it was cheap and did the job - bit disappointed with the built in fan controller not being compatible with regular 3 or 4 pin fans, but hey ho, can't have everything. I wanted something cheap to hack apart and play with carving my own side window - feels more like your own case when you've taken a dremel to it, I find ;)

Edit: Have added some faux-carbon-fibre to the Crossfire bridge too. Fits in nicely:

Thanks. back in 2009 I always wanted the CM 690 nvidia edition, but its was so difficult to find in Denmark. So when I actually got it it was just "love at first sight". So it's the case I've been using since 2009 back when powder coating, painted interior and great cable management cut outs were not "standards" for PC cases.
The first 3 pictures shows the outside of the case. I really like the case because of the black and green but also because I has smooth curved lines... which reminds me of a VW Golf IV :p
Since in 2011 I actually bought a NZXT Phantom as new PC case, but the build quality was horrible and the screws were so soft they were easily damaged so I ended up selling it and continued to use the CM 690.
I had looks on the CM 690 Advanced II nvidia edition, but it didn't appeal to me. If it had the same side panel and CM 690 I could go with it. Bút the CM 690 is just a trusty old case that never failed me and the aircooling options are pretty good.

However before the CM 690 I had an Antec Nine Hundred and I really like that one too. With the Antec Eleven Hundred offering supposedly better aircooling for 3-way-Sli and much better cable management options, it could be the case I purchase as "replacement"...but I still have a hard time giving up the CM 690.

There's a pair of Corsair SP120 Quiet Editions on the radiator and a Corsair AF140 Quiet Edition at the back.

I don't follow any particular team, apart from England. I would follow my local team but they're desperately inadequate and it's hard to find sky blue components. :D

good setup i have just got the same just waiting for my h100i now
what rpms do you run your sp120 on the rad max all the time?

I started off using the 7v fan speed reducer but there's so little difference in noise compared to 12v I chose to have cooler temps and a fraction more fan noise.

Not amazing but works well enough,

Changed a couple of the fans the roof fan stopped me mounting the H80 in the roof hence the swap. Temps are pretty good generally

Closed watercooling loops are really popular nowadays, what's the advantages over a good aircooler?

I went from a Silver Arrow SB-E -> H100i for my 3930k at 4,5ghz. My temps dropped by over 20 degrees c for idle and load.

Pretty good if you ask me. Closed Loops don't last as long as air coolers, but they will last about the time till the next upgrade( 2-3 years anyway for me).

Also they make the case tidier and remove the need for a massive heatsink above the CPU. And let you have more room for high profile RAM :D

A 20c drop in temps does seem unusual. My H100i with SP120 Quiet's is about 5-8 degrees cooler than my NH-D14, which is still a pretty significant drop.

Sorry dude, but I have to call BS on this. Either that, or your SB-E was very badly installed and/or you're using some very dodgy temp reading software.

Using Core Temp to monitor temperatures. And it isn't actually BS, both coolers were fitted correctly. The only other difference I could think of is I changed from the Thermal Paste that came with the SB-E -> the pre applied to the H100i.
