The New Cases Gallery

Yeah, HTPC downstairs so I can record stuff and stream it up here/to my laptop. It'll also give my parents a computer they can use... admittedly a dual water cooling loop may be somewhat over the top but why not? :D

I also wanted to have a go at some proper modding myself and this was a good opportunity.

Spec should be roughly -

e2160
2x1gb DDR2 800mhz (Geil, Patriot, OCZ... not sure yet)
DS3, P5B , IP-35 or similar budget end p35 / 965 board
500GB samsung HD
My 7800GT

hopefully the cable routing will satisfy those pedantic about that type of thing.

This is how my G50 is looking at the moment with some mods -

  • HD bay(s) cut down to allow for better airflow, turned 90 degrees and moved back to make space for a rad.
  • Holes cut for cable routing
  • Blowhole for 120.1 rad cut into the top of the case
  • Holes for fitting fillports cut into the top of the case
  • Window pretty much finished, need some blowhole edging and the perspex though (not pictured).
  • Paxmate fitted, bottom is held on by the HD bay and the PSU mount rather than stuck.

Are those things that are covering the bottom and the DVD cage called Paxmate? And did you get them from ocUK? http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CM-006-AK&groupid=701&catid=7&subcat=209

Just to expand on what raikiri has said, if your choosing a case and you want it to be quiet I would suggest a steel constructed case, possible with aftermarket fans (an extra £15+) if the ones supplied are crap.

Yeah, it is paxmate but I didn't get it from OcUK.

If you want it to silence your computer, don't bother. I am only using it to improve the looks of the case.

It does make it look trick. Though my only gripe with that stuff is, I've found it makes the fans dirty like some sort of grime like you get with brake dust. You notice this more if you have fans that are not black. I don't know what it is, the stuff is a tad greasy. I only started getting that when I fitted the stuff into the Xaser3. The orange fans went all icky. It does clean off, but it makes the fans look all manky after a weeks use. Must be the somewhat rubber material. I don't see dust with it.

Is your PC in the kitchen and you fry a lot ?

Never had that problem and my fans are white! Just the usual dust, maybe they improved upon it?
