Proper! Forgive my ignorance, but doesn't the sag in the bellows obstruct the optical path?

It's a good question. There are little velcro strips to hold up the bellows if they sag or some people use foam or paper cups etc but in reality I probably wouldn't be racking them out that far or the wind would catch it and it would sail away with me screaming :p

I was planning on waiting on the 5DSR... but I found a great deal on this so went with it. I much prefer it to the D800 already and I've only had it a day :)

Got a 24-70 in the post too & thinking about the Sigma Art 24 & 50... possibly the Canon 100/2

- Better autofocus... leading to more keepers up to 1/2 from 1/3 ratio(ish) & it's faster
- Personally preferable ergonomics - feels better in my hands, much better balance - although I'm still getting used to moving around the AF point which seems a bit counter-intuitive... got some menu-diving to do to see if I can adjust that
- Much less fiddling to do in Lightroom

The first one sounds like hardware issue that could have been fixed.

Perhaps... although I don't think so.

The speed difference is minimal, but I notice a difference and think the Canon has the lead.

Body has gone to a pro tog who was replacing another D800 & with the contact we've had, he would've mentioned if he noticed any difference.

I did the various calibration checks / steps / updates for lenses... only the Sigma 35mm and Nikon 50mm needed adjustment & it mostly minimised seeking.

The Canon just seems that bit better at hitting the mark more frequently for me... may simply be the way I'm using the camera or something else user based.

But I'm genuinely happy with the switch... plus it was the one I wanted in the first place... just thought I would give something different a try with the Nikon as I'm aware the sensor is that bit better.

It's made me even more curious about the 5DSR... but with the price I got this deal for, I'll be able to part-ex it without losing any money (maybe even make a bit, relative to the glass).

Some reviewers did complain that the D800 didn't feel quite as snappy as previous Nikons (Ryan Brenizer mentions it in his D600 review), and that the D810 solved those issues.

Crinkleshoes: You can set the joystick on the back of the 5D3 to select the AF point. It was one of the first things I did when I was loaned one, tapping a button and then spinning a wheel to select the AF point was something I just couldn't get used to. I do agree with you on the ergonomics overall though, but I think the D810 levels it out again.

Thanks SDK

GTRacer... I thought you might be able to do it - only I've been so wrapped up with various bits that I haven't taken the time to dig through the menus properly yet. The joystick is what I'd like to use to move the AF point, so that's good... I thought you would be able to change it :)

Very nice, definitely want to replace my 300mm with the PF But I also want the sigma 150-600mm Sports

yeah i was considering that lens really nice spec and has great reviews, managed to trade my old 300mm f/4 in to mpb for reasonable price before ebay get flooded, incidentaly wex offered me £580.
