The "New Gear/Willy Waving" thread

Cheers

There's two of us for this one, quite a big gig. And the weather looks to be partly cloudy, the very best kind of cloudy!

The 35L mk2 hood does have that catch lock now, it doesn't bother me, I think it is one of the first lenses to have it. I have never seen it before but then I haven't bought a Canon lens for a couple of years.

One thing you will notice is the new 35 is a bit longer, by like an inch. it is plastic outside but if you read the tear down article earlier, everything inside is built much better, to last.

Alright, consider me converted to the Canon 35mm 1.4 II.

The Sigma Art is excellent, no doubt about that, but the canon does a few things the Sigma requires extra clicks to correct in Lightroom after, such as eliminating purple fringing/CA. It's also sharper and more accurate when using corner AF points.

Mighty impressed.

…….told ya so…. :p

Is it a world apart? No.
Is it better though? Abso - fricking - lutely

The way it eliminate CA is just mind boggling, so much so I plan to get the new Canon 85/1.4 if the same quality carries over.

p.s. it may be the compression of your photo but I think you can get it sharper than that.

Oh indeed, the photo I posted has had zero sharpening done, that's the RAW, with my preset applied and sharpening turned off just to show how sharp it is out of the box!

A new Canon 85 1.4 you say?

It's due out soon, It's a 85/1.4L with IS. They say it is not a replacement of the 1.2 but a middle between it, the price however is only about £200 less than the 1.2, I have a feeling they are going to slowly pull the 1.2 off the market and leave the 1.4L IS as their flagship 85mm.

Good boy, welcome to the club!

Sorry but not sharp enough, you need to get the lens down to Elstree for recalibration...

Your mind will be blown after, it is free so get it down there asap.

Sorry, that is not sharp, have you had it down to Elstree to recalibration?

LMAO, I don't even think you are baiting. Ray and Robbie are posting pics of theirs, showing how their new gear is performing.

Where are yours, or is all your gear too busy being calibrated by someone else?

My cameras are calibrated just fine :p I don't answer to trolls anymore. :)

I have that same mic raymond. I bought it for my own wedding... But kinda didn't use it. A few brief tests and it seems good though, what do you think?

Edit.. Sorry, mines a genuine rode

So is mine :p Autocorrect put Ride so I kept the joke up.

I've not tried it yet, its just something to use for my trip in a few weeks. Anything is better than the built in one, that's the bar really, so not looking for the best but just the most compact.
