The "New Gear/Willy Waving" thread

Sharp enough by my eyes but that’s maybe me. It def gets sharper at f2 and f2.8 though
I saw on another forum that one guy had two examples which were soft at 1.4 but sharp at 2.8, he sent them back and his third one was sharper at 1.4 but not as much at 2.8
At 2.8 mine is sharper than my 90mm but at 1.4 it’s soft, I could send it back and end up like the other guy. Just find it odd as at 1.4 my 24mm is very sharp, maybe I’m expecting too much.

the 24mm at 1.4 was way sharper than the 85mm is at f1.4. The 24mm was the best lens Sony has made ever IMO.
I really like the 24mm, sharp what ever aperture I use, good size / weight etc. So glad I replaced my 24-70gm. I just wasnt sure if I had a bad 85mm but I’ll just make sure I don’t drop below F2.

Well the Sony 135mm is amazing esp with the animal eye focus on the A7iii. Can't see me wanting to ever use the 85mm again.

LOVE those shots... really stunning.

I just picked up the 135mm too... there's something very special about this lens!

Got the two f0.95 lenses... didn't realise til it arrived, the 35mm is for APS-C... but the 50mm has a nice dreamy effect to it, even though it's not very sharp.

Honestly I would have loved one of the newer models, but for £520 with only a 10k shutter count I think this was the most sensible option. At least unless I get back into it properly.

Tis indeed a superb camera, just make sure to watch for the oliy shutter problem the D600 had, if its not been replaced already of course.

I've decided to upgrade my Sony a6000 with 16-50 to the a6400 with 18-135.

I've already got the sigma 30 1.4 which I'll keep for use with the a6400, but I've also placed an order for the sigma 56 1.4 as well :)

I'm looking forward to trying out the new eye auto focus and tracking etc, along with 4k video recording. Should be quite a nice upgrade. By all accounts the 18-135 kit lens is a significant step up in IQ from the 16-50 kit lens.
