The new google maps...

It's all well and good but how the hell do you remove starred places now? It used to be double click, select remove from the menu that appeared.

Seems very clunky and laggy here, i am only on a 7mbit connection but the experience is fluid on the old style maps.

Not good.

Been one of the many testing this for 8 months or so!!

Now it's gone live it takes me to 'Gateshead' as default, which is a bit of an improvement over taking me to somewhere in California!!

Just wish it would take me to where I am like the old maps did!!!

I also agree, I've had a bit of a play today as I've had free time. And it isn't responsive at all. I'm on a 40mb connection too.

Good (if thats the right term) to hear that it is laggy and rubbish for someone on a fast connection too. It means that hopefully they may indeed fix it if it affects everyone.

I get the idea of maximising the display area, but the new google maps just doesn't feel intuitive. That's a shame because traditionally intuitive produces is something Google excelled in.

This is fine and is logical/intuitive. It's just more feature packed in line with modern day demands and is the base start for Project Tango integration once that launches and people start publishing their 3D maps of buildings/places. You can see where this is all heading.

The Android version of Maps is slowly updating with these in mind too.

I generally like it although I have had more issues whilst in Streetview in the new version than I ever did in the old one. It can get irritating as well if you are navigating in streetview and they have done any recording inside buildings in an area ... you try and move and end up in a building corridor!

If your browser supports the latest advances in web technologies then it will have fluid vector based graphics and transitions between maps. Load times are slicker too.

Basically the best experience is usually on Chrome or Firefox.

Weird. No lag here, well on my home machine. My work machine is excused since it's not ideal spec.
