The new Orange Android phone (San Francisco) £99...but a Question??

What's the ROM to go for at the moment?

I haven't changed it since de-oranged back in December. I think it needs changing as GPS doesn't seem to work.

ROM wise, I've tried FLB-Froyo r11, Swedish Spring and CM7. Swedish Spring seemed unstable and caused my phone not to boot, was a bit slower than FLB too. CM7 just seemed slow. So out of the three, I'd definitely go for FLB-Froyo r11. :)

I've literally just bought this phone from Argos....I read some stuff about GEN2 phones...do I need to check if its a GEN2?

Also...in some of the threads it specified OLED in the title....mine will be a TFT screen so can I install those roms/do that root?

Ie....can I follow the instructions on the OP with my phone?

I think the ones from Argos mostly are Gen1, mine is which I recently purchased and followed the guide on the front page of this thread.
I use Rom manager to try new roms now - which is very simple, once you're phone is rooted etc.

What about the MoDaCo ROM? There doesn't seem to be much description in the thread for FLB.

try this app which will tell you what gen your phone is.

Im stuggling with the rooting bit.

I am trying to get it into superboot/root mode by holding the volume up and switching it on but it always boots normally?

What is the art to ti?

EDIT: If I hold the volume down key and boot it comes up with FTM.

Bit easy to install a custom ROM these days isn't it? I did it for my girlfriend in January using the old method and it took a while but now you can just do it all with apps!.

Went from 'stock' to clockwork, rooted and FLB ROM installed, in 20mins flat! :D .

Me and the San Fran will be calling it a day next week, just bought a new HTC Desire for £195 so it's time for the San Fran to go! Been a good innings though, introduced me to Android and it's been excellent fun modding and trying out different mods.

Likewise, i'll be after a better phone in the near future, something like an evo 3d or better.

But the san fran has been great to get a taste for android, before splashing out for such a phone. I might still keep it as a spare though.

Check the actual contacts, sometimes they randomly acquire -'s in the number which causes sending errors. Not sure of a quick fix though, had to go through changing all manually :/
