Most of the locals like him. In fact, they really like him. I think he'll keep his seat no matter he stands for.
He had a 12,000 majority in 2010, that was cut to 3,200 in 2015. He may have personal popularity but I don't think it will be enough. We shall see


People having a go at him for retiring might want to re-think their opinion of him. I was upset to hear of racist attacks against immigrants in the wake of the referendum result, but I'm not surprised to find that the violence isn't just one way. How did we let our society become so divided?
Are you suggesting The Times is making the above up? Partisan newspapers have been part of our culture for a long time and never really caused problems in that regard at least.
