The Night Manager

Big fan of the book so was looking forward to this with anticipation. Just watched 1st episode and like the way they have brought the story forward to modern time.

The 2 leads are both highly respected actors and do not disappoint and bring the characters to life very well. Little details like Jeds hair style are spot on so far.

Really looking forward to the rest of this now.

Watched the first episode tonight.

Thought it was very good actually. You can't deny, the cast is stellar. Never dragged, and definitely left me wanting more. I don't know how to explain it properly, but it's filmed really nicely and a treat to look at in places. I think that's called cinematography. It was also a blast from my past as I used to walk through that big hall in the FCO every day when I worked there. It's called the Locarno suite. Looks a bit plain now compared to when I was there. The ornateness of it appears to have been stripped.

Will undoubtedly watch the complete series.

Remember seeing Hugh on that annoying chatty guy who has his own show with a flippy chair, looked quite interesting so defo going to give this a watch

Its dross and it cost 3 million Pounds per episode.

I'm a fan of Olivia Colman but as a spy? Not a chance.

Plus I'm sick of seeing Eton educated actors on the the screen

It's far from dross, and what does someones education have to do with their acting ability? He's a fine actor.

The first episode was cliché after cliché and verging on parody.

I don't think he is... He plays the same role in everything he does. He's got shorter hair than when he was in Thor thats about it.

Oh and he was exactly the same in Crimson Peak I have just watched.

Starting to question who is actually the worst guy in the world though heh - they need to develop Hugh's character a bit more really though I know who he is supposed to be as a character but so far they've not really made him seem sinister enough (unless that is actually intentional as I don't know the rest of the story).
