****The Nintendo 3DS Thread****

Im quite close to cancelling my pre-order. Aside from Zelda and Pilotwings (which is being touted as a minigame more than anything), theres not a whole lot else I'd like to play.

After initially been very excited I've decided to cancel my pre-order. I may re-evaluate further down the line (and against Sonys offering). I'd rather spend 200 pounds on a few other gaming related goodies to be honest, not least of which is the Mortal Kombat Kollectors edition. They really should have had at least a day one "killer app".

Zelda will be out in June so you'll only have to buy it then! That's if there's availability :P

Preordered from Tesco last weekend.

I get the decision of those cancelling though, I dont have a DS so Ill get more use but its going to be summer at least before things really get going for the machine, especially with the Japanese situation looking like that's going to disrupt the nation for another few weeks at the least. Hopefully it'll calm down soon but they really really have other priorities than shipment forecasts.

Shame it doesnt have an advance slot as I still have a load of those still floating somewhere like Golden Sun and Tactics Ogre from high school.

I expect Nintendo will update the 3DS VC at some point to allow GBA games.

just GB, GBC, Turbo gGrapihcs and Sega so far afaik. o GBA planned but they'll most likely release them.

Can't wait too play the old Pokemon games, remember being the 1st kid (and I think only kid) in town to own a shiny Charizard

I cancelled mine purely because of the games, IGN reviews are nothing to go by though, they nit pick to the max and their opinion is worthless.

Why do viewing angles from the side matter IGN? I don't understand, who plays their DS from such an angle? They always make incredibly stupid arguments.

You know the old saying "you can't spell ignorant without IGN". If it's not COD they don't care.

edit. That said, they actually seem to mirror other reviews so it seems they're not just making stuff up for a change.

Doesn't even talk about build quality or anything like Spotpass, Streetpass or the Mii creator, it just seems to obsess over viewing angle and lack of a killer app. Pretty lacklustre "review" in my opinion.

To be fair, until the likes of Zelda appear, that IS a valid comment.
There's some really good DS games available, but a lot of people won't be buying for that.

I understand that, but that is just one aspect, and for them to call it a review of the hardware when all they really talked about was the viewing angle and the lack of AAA games is laughable. It's not a review, hell, we've already heard virtually everything they've said months ago. I just like to be able to sit and read through lots of detail, unboxing vids, the reviewer telling me everything that's included along with the console, the build quality, what the menus are like, what the paint finish is like on the console, the new system of having individual tags for each console instead of game specific ones for the online play. This review is pretty shambolic in regards to letting potential customer know everything about their potential purchase.

They didn't even tell us about the included AR Games, I think it was briefly mentioned and that was all.
