****The Nintendo 3DS Thread****

Now, should I get the regular version or XL ? Decisions, decisions ....
Currently have a standard sized 3DS ... think I might be tempted to go with the XL version this time. Just looks more robust and the screen size is noticeably larger. Just not sure on whether the stretched out pixels will annoy me ... probably not.

Also, would quite like to get a charging cradle. Doesn't seem to be many retailers offering that atm ...

Been flicking between my XL and 3DS for a while and in the end decided to get the n3DS and sell my XL. It looks much better on the smaller screen.

Due to kids and me we have 4 variants at the moment, the new 3ds is my fave by a mile - i have sold my XL, too big and ppi not enough for the larger screen IMO

The new zelda XL does look all kinds of awesome tho...

Decided to put in a pre-order for the N3DS XL version ... I agree about the resolution thing but to be honest, I find the smaller 3DS cramps my hands when I've been using it for extended periods.

One big plus is I do generally feel more immersed on the XL as I'm looking right into the game where as on the 3DS I can see a lot outside the screen due to it's size. If the XL had higher PPI it would be a no brainer but I think the n3DS is a good compromise with it's slightly bigger screen. At times the XL has made my games look eye bleedingly bad.

I'm movin from the 3DS to the 3DS XL, the drop in quality is worth the larger screen and more comfort.

My other thought on this is : who plays a handheld for graphics quality ? Sure, some games might withstand the "stretching" of their pixels a bit better than others, but no 3DS games look outstandingly good because the native resolution is just very low to begin with.

That's what I'm telling myself anyway ....;)

It's very noticeable on Ocarina Of Time. I do agree with you somewhat but at the same time I don't personally want to make something that is already quite bad even worse.

Just move the xl further away if the picture quality is low, and you get the same effect, but keep the battery life and ergonomic benefits.

So the 3DS has been out for a few years now. I am picking up my first (New 3DS) in a few weeks and was wondering; are Nintendo planning or have suggested a Metroid game on the 3DS?
