The Nokia E71 thread

Seems o2 are being generous, got the paperwork through today and they are knocking another fiver off my bill per month!

18mths 600mins/1000texts + Unlimited landline for £19.57 per month :D
 
Just arrived! First impression are thats it very snazzy, looks so good but i dunno how my thumbs are gonna get on with the keyboard :)
 
I got this phone two days ago. Very very nice phone and it actually takes nice photos. I think it's a zenon flash.

I installed ovi store app on it yesterday and had problems with it installing.

Any of you getting problems installing it?

If the camera was better quality and it had a zenon flash it would be the perfect phone! nonetheless I'm loving mine, had it for 1 month now.

18 month contract free E71, 200 mins, unlimited 3 to 3 mins (only person I call regualrly is the wife who is on 3 also), unlimited texts and internet = £20/month

edit: also installed profile scheduler which automatically switches to normal profile when I finish work and onto silent profile before work (I always missed calls before as forgot to take it off silent profile) and installed Handy Alarm Pro as the alarm it comes with is pants tbh (use my mobile as my main wakeup alarm)

I agree the camera is not first rate, though in this type of phone there's no need for it to be. All i've used it for is barcode scanning and getting some prices while out and about, I have a camera to take pictures with. I'm sure it's not even that bad despite this though.

The profiles option is useful, I don't want to have to manually switch things around the whole time, so I have a nice interface for when i'm in uni, and a suitable one for when i'm not.
 
Try moving a bit further away than you'd expect, I certainly found that helped. Failing that, move it closer and further away from the barcode for a little bit until it registers, you'll see what I mean.

I couldn't find any on ebay, gave up after scrolling through 30 pages of silicone and crystal covers that idiots had listed in every category lol

There's also an american company called boxwave(don't think it breaks the rules as there not a competitor) that do them.
 
Boxwave one looks same as the ebay one, bit cheapy looking but should do the job.

Will probably get one in a few weeks and try it out :)
 
My E71 is broken, one of the buttons (the unlock one!) doesn't work anymore, so my phone is now constantly locked and I can't make any phone calls, only receive !

Had a fair bit of use to be fair (over 100 hours of calls) but still annoying.
 
Oh I know, it should definetely last more than 100 hours !

Will pop into the office and change to a complete black housing whilst I'm at it - might just be something stuck inside, or I'll need to replace the UI board.
 
Opened it up and definetely the UI thats broken - don't have any of these either at the moment :(

Also seems to be some moisture patches on the UI in other areas - I guess from having it in my pocket whilst doing lots of cycling and sweating.
 
I got a E71 a few weeks back and have to say I don't really like it. My first Nokia in many years but the OS isn't very slick and the camera is poor. I wish I'd got something else tbh.

BTW on the E71 use the "T" button for autofocus. Daft.
 
Just a heads up that updated firmware is now available, I am installing it at present.
