The **Now Eating** Thread

I presume you can do fondant potatoes in sous-vide? Can you sous-vide in butter?

Please don't persuade me to get an Anova :p

Thanks guys, fondant potatoes are my favourite type of potato.

Hadn't thought of sous vide fondant potatoes, may be harder to get the sear and browning after though. Worth a shot though I guess

4x4 Cali burger from Bread Meats Bread, which is 4 thin mustard grilled patties covered in cheese. And some squeaky fried cheese (fried cheese curds) with marinara dipping sauce.

So good, but too much food! I could not finish it.

Got this pesto chicken and buffalo mozzarella salad for dinner later :)

looks great and as much as I always want to order such things, would rather two normal sized ones, so they fit in the mouth.
but then you look even more greedy than one giant one.

I went to Japan for work two weeks ago, had some great food at seemingly ordinary restaurants.

Night 1: Shabu-Shabu where you get a bowl of hot broth/stock and you blanch your veg and thinly sliced meat. Not a very good picture as we were hungry. :o

Night 2: What was a kind of set-meal style restaurant where you picked your main and sides. This was Battered chicken pieces and I presume stir-fried veg with a sweet-soy style sauce and rice.

Night 3: The big work night out.

Night 4: Found the top rated local place on Trip Advisor, you did a Korean-style bbq with tasty meat. No English so had to get strangers to help us order!

Night 5: Smaller work night out - but more food!

Night 7: Alone at the airport ready for my return flight. I hadn't had much sushi so only one thing to do...

Such awesome foods. :)

Made some krispie Kreme style doughnuts. They turned out amazing for a first try at making doughnuts. Very close to the real thing, but the dough isnt quite as sweet and is a little firmer. Also the real KK doughnuts have a weird sour tinge that is missing, not sure what that is or whether it was just the batch I tired.

Used this recipe if anyone wants to give them a try: http://www.cookingclassy.com/copycat-krispy-kreme-doughnuts/
