The **Now Eating** Thread

Ok, rookie question! I am interested to try Ramen. Does this packet come with everything you need, aside from adding some meat and an egg?

Yes, it’s noodles and sauce.

You just boil some water in a pan, add the sachet of powder, then add noodle and boil for 5 mins.

Then topped with anything you want, egg and bacon for example.

Ps, add some spring onions always add a touch of freshness which balances out all ramen. The egg is also great with all ramen. Perfect ramen egg had a semi runny yoke, boil water, when it’s boilijg put in egg for 6min exactly then put it straight into cold water. You can marinate it or not.

Thanks very much. Do most supermarkets sell those noodle and sauce packs or do you get them from a specialist place?

**Edit** Just checked and seems majority of supermarkets have similar :)

Do note that some cook differently.

By that I mean some will ask you to boil the water, add the powder (or sometimes a paste) into the saucepan then add the noodle, basically a 1 pot cooking. Some will ask you to boil some water, cook the noodles in plain water, then drain and place into serving bowl and add the paste and mix.

Some has added toppings in a packet, but always have instructions but at the end of the day, they will all work by just boiling in water for 5 mins (or less).

How much does your own broth increase preparation time ?
can't you batch some, and avoid ever resorting to packets (Enumbers&salt) ?
they had a ramen restaurant on TripleD, and it was a long cook affair.

You do it in batches, and I can defrost one in about 15mins by putting the jar in some warm water.

These jars actually pre-made ones from Sous Chef, I have made my own with pork bones, chicken bones etc but it's like an 8hr effort.

Daim bars are VERY hard to find ! I had to go to 3 different supermarkets.

I know eh? I could do with another one of these...

As I checked into my temp apartment yesterday (currently in the middle of relocating), I've not got access to my usual spices and what not. So for now I've got some super simple bean chilli.

I used 2 tins of tomatoes, and made the stock to 250ml.

Back from Rome, and have somehow lost a stone in weight despite eating ALL the pizza's and ice cream. Guess a lot of walking in the sub 35c temperatures helped!
I hadn't very many opportunities for taking snaps of my food as I was always starving when they came but here are two pizza pics taken over two days at the Pizza Forum just near the Colloseaum, which was 8mins from our hotel.

Pizza Forum pizza's are lovely. Dough is amazingly soft and the toppings were so flavoursome. Prices ranged from 8 to 13 Euros from what I recall. Given the location (viewing distance of the Colloseaum), that wasn't too bad at all compared to the neighbouring shops!

Standard cheese & tomato with chicken sauasusuauge bits :o

Mushrooms, Peppers, Spicy Salami from what I recall.
