Went out fir a meal. And god damn it was good.

Platter to start with.
Battered cod goujons, deep fried brie with sweet chilli sauce, pate, olives, pitta be read and hummus.

Then 16oz rump medium rare, mushroom, onion rings, triple cooked chips.

It was all so good and not badly priced, all local good produce, £6 fir starter and £19.95 for steak and sides,
 
It's mackerel, I doubt it was bland. Looking at how it was fried I imagine macca mostly browned the skin, which is the important bit when pan-frying.
