The **Now Eating** Thread

Simple - oven cooked plaice, ratatouille and sour dough bread.

Got up at 0430 this morning, sea fishing on the drift for plaice through till 1500 or so.. caught a plaice of 1 lb 9.5 oz that was 18" long. For back about rush hour. Ate. Now having a beer before collapsing into bed.

9" deep pan BBQ chicken, bacon and sweet corn pizza, a couple of jalapeño poppers, samosa and a garlic Mayo dip ! Mom !

The butcher is Argentinian or Brazilian and suggested it. He's bringing in loads of new cuts we don't see here and lots of bbq cuts and packs. Sounds really interesting.

It's a demeter farm so they use everything on the animal.

I was also quite surprised to hear the vodka comment. So it's essentially beef ribs right? I think I've read about using vodka as you say but my first thought would be that it would have an odd effect on the meat. That said, I'd be really happy to hear that I'm wrong :) I definitely want to hear about how you get on.

Presuming I've identified the cut correctly I think anything low and slow would be awesome.

It's a very strange cut. Higher up than the short rib towards the back rib.

Long and slow tomorrow then hopefully a couple of hours in the afternoon in the bbq.

I don't understand why KFC is so popular and how they get fried chicken so wrong. When local kebab shop does that (12wings) for £4.99 and they taste great. Still cheap nasty ingredients but tasty.

Just made a beef chilli.. used a bit of Psycho Pepper sauce in it too.. has a lovely long warmth :D

I'd recommend that addition to any chilli :) Will be interesting to see if the mrs can detect it...

Just back from my cousins 21st birthday party. My aunt decided instead of the usual sandwiches, sausage roll etc buffet, she would order a bunch of stuff from the local takeaway to lay out instead. She got it from the excellent place I often get my pizzas and calzones from :D

6 16' inch pizzas, cut into squares instead of slices so it would feed more people. 2 plain cheese, 1 cheese and donner meat, 1 Hawaiian, 1 cheese and spicy chicken and 1.... I dunno what. It had onions, so I avoided it. Also a very big helping of both chicken and veggie pakora.

Me and my dad totally stuffed ourselves. Excellent nosh! :D
