As others have said everyone i know is playing Skyrim.
If they release a proper expansion (rather than DLC hopefully) it will be really succesful. Everyone loves Skyrim.
GTA V will beat all of these!
Lol, how anyone is still entertained by the Call of Duty games i don't know. They just release the same game every year.
Activision says Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has broken the global sales record for a videogame, grossing $775m (£490m) in its first five days on sale.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, released soon after, was close behind. Its publisher said it shipped seven million launch units, worth $450m (£320m).

Very pleased for Skyrim!
Slightly worried about MW3 though...still being lapped up. Same again next year?!![]()
I don't see why that is unexpected, you've bought the game and a sale resulting in 6hrs of play is worth the same as a sale resulting in 600hrs of play. All they need to do is get the units sold, what people do with the game after that, playing it, using it as a coaster is irrelevant for the purposes of these statistics. People keep moaning about the game but each new release keeps selling, if I was them I'd keep it going. Anyone remember that "boycott MW2" group that listed countless members playing MW2 once it was released?Did not expect that for MW3, I've got 6 hours online play time and I'm already bored of it

i bet even on consoles everyone has forgoten about mw3 lol..
my stepson stopped playing it after 2 days and my son played it for about an hour and never touched it again
Stats by monetary value is always iffy in my books. The real deal should be on the number of units sold.
There's no indication of MW3 from what I can see.
Nevertheless its all good for the gaming industry.
I've enjoyed pretty much every COD game with the exception of BlackOps (haven't played COD3 or MW3). They do cinematic action very well and "more of the same" from my point of view isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Then you have to think, why should developers even care about making games with a lot of depth, when Activision can sell mindless games for little effort with a massive profit margin?
By developers i don't simply mean the company, i mean every single person working in the industry, the mindset is not going to help in long run.
Of course it all falls down to the consumer in the end, which makes the discussion almost pointless.
