Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. The full rules can be found under the 'Terms and Rules' link in the bottom right corner of your screen. Just don't mention competitors in any way, shape or form and you'll be OK.
General rule is that newer drivers reduce fps, no? Sure Apple and Nvidua do this to force consumers to spend money on newer products.
New drivers and OS cripple older hardware usually.
Me personally im on the latest driver to try and reduce warzone Caldera bugs. 497.29 seems to have fixed mass ground textures turning blue anyway

There was plenty under the turkey, we scraped it off to be used as gravyWhere did you get your tin foil fat?
I really hate the fact that the Nvidia drivers are now using the stupid Windows App Store to install a control panel!
Sadly it looks as if I'll never be able to use any of the DCH drivers on the other GTX 980 system at my family home because unlike the Standards the Windows App folder has a corrupted Administrator profile. All the other directories are working fine apart from the Nvidia control panel, even with a reinstall!
I've tried
-Changing security permissions for that folder to Administrator or even as a standard user which always ends up with a failed to enumerate objects in the container. So the files are hard locked
-Reset WindowsApps folder Permissions to Default
-Doing a full windows repair but it says everything is fine
-Doing an image repair but again says everything is fine
-Making a new account, reinstalling the drivers, but again fails
The Nvidia driver works fine, the control panel doesn't! Annoyed is an understatement
Hopefully this doesn't happen on the RTX 2070 super system or i'll be ******
No, not a general rule. General rule is that newer drivers improve compatibility/performance in modern games especially with modern hardware, and add new features. Occasionally you may see a regression in specific edge cases for older games/hardware. But generally speaking they will be wanting better performance not worse from their drivers to drive new buyers to Nvidia not AMD. This is especially true at the moment in 2022 where there is still a big backlog of buyers wanting GPUs from 2020 (NV 3000 / AMD 6000 series).General rule is that newer drivers reduce fps, no? Are the latest drivers the best ones? Got a Gigabyte 3090
Flickering issue?
I just updated to the new Studio driver 511.09, as a photo/video editor first and gaming 2nd, the stability and productivity gains of Studio has benefited me the most but have not noticed any losses in games vs game ready driver.
The January NVIDIA Studio Driver provides optimal support for the latest new creative applications announced at CES 2022. This includes the general availability of NVIDIA Omniverse and the latest update for NVIDIA Canvas which adds higher resolution exports and five new materials.
More details at https://blogs.nvidia.com/blog/2022/01/04/studio-laptops-omniverse-canvas
NVIDIA Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings
Added Image Scaling control to boost application frame rates and increase the level of sharpness, detail, or clarity of images in games and applications.
Added Shader Cache Size control to set the maximum amount of disk space to use for storing shader compiles.
Vertical Sync options for Optimus notebook GPUs are now the same as for desktop GPUs
[Omniverse Create]: Corruption occurs with RTX Path-Traced Renderer. [3401408]
[Optix Denoiser]: Improvement made by removing denoiser weights from the DLL and loading from a separate file. [3436540]
[Adobe Photoshop CC]: Application UI fails to refresh over Remove Desktop connection. [200761000]
[Detroit: Become Human]: There is random stuttering and freezing in the game. [3389250]
[Autodesk VRED]: Shader compilation fails - gl_Layer is not recognized in the fragment shader. [3436432]
Flickering/disappearing text occurs when 12-bit color is used. [3358884
Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed may crash on courses where players drive through water. [3338967]
indeed studio also goes through testing such as colour Reproduction testing small tweaks to default configuration aimed to improving photo/Video editing speed over instead of gamingStudio drivers have the cumulative features of the game ready driver with the addition of extra testing and application support and feature extras. Like the last December studio driver had a boost in performance for apps like Premier and Davinci Resolve whereas the current studio adds more stuff for VR and other stuff noted in the change notes.
Essentially they are game ready drivers that undergo testing for absolute stability and feature additions because they are made for productivity environments. Usually the studio driver is a couple versions behind the game ready driver, but on each release has the stuff from the previous GRD with the addition of the application additional features and stability.
GRD = Day 1 support for the latest game(s) but could potentially be unstable outside of those games.
Studio - More thoroughly tested and stable than ga,e ready, additional productivity enhancements. Released on a slower schedule to game ready.
I skimmed the release PDF notes for both drivers recently and noted how much more thorough the studio driver notes were.
I’ve found studio drivers by far the best option, I play a varied mix of very old and current stuff, and by far studio drivers seem to handle the two variations the best, they are marginally down on performance (I’m talking 1-2fps in FS2020 for example) but don’t crash out my older games like say Delta Force (!) as the GRD’s do…Studio drivers have the cumulative features of the game ready driver with the addition of extra testing and application support and feature extras. GeForce Game Ready Driver Game Ready Drivers provide the best possible gaming experience for all major new releases. Prior to a new title launching, our driver team is working up until the last minute to ensure every performance tweak and bug fix is included for the best gameplay on day-1.
Includes support for the 12GB GeForce RTX 3080.
- [Detroit Become Human]: Random stuttering/freezing occurs in the game.
- Flicker/disappearing text when 12-bit color is used
- [HDR][G-Sync]: Mouse pointer gets stuck after turning on HDR from the Windows Control Panel or after toggling G-Sync from the NVIDIA control panel.
To work around, click the mouse (right or left button). The mouse cursor will be sluggish for a few seconds before returning to normal operation.
- [Deathloop][HDR]: TDR/corruption occurs in the game with Windows HDR enabled.
If this issue occurs, toggle the Windows HDR setting.
- Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed may crash on courses where players drive through water.
- In multi-monitor configurations, the screen may display random black screen flicker.
- [NVIDIA Advanced Optimus][NVIDIA Control Panel]: After setting the display multiplexer type to “dGPU”, the setting is not preserved across a reboot or resume from S4.
- [NVIDIA Image Scaling][Desktop]: The screen moves to the upper left corner on cold boot when Image Scaling is applied to the desktop. [3424721]
Do not apply NVIDIA Image Scaling to the desktop. It is intended only for video upscaling or for games which do not run with a scaling resolution unless the same Image Scaling resolution is applied on the desktop.
- [NVIDIA Image Scaling][DirectX 11 video apps]: With Image Scaling enabled, video playback is corrupted or results in a system hang after performing an HDR transition.
If HDR is required to be toggled from the Microsoft Control Panel, be sure to switch to a different Image Scaling resolution.
