• Competitor rules

Please remember that any mention of competitors, hinting at competitors or offering to provide details of competitors will result in an account suspension. **THE NVIDIA DRIVERS THREAD**

Tested with RE9.

Code:
577.00 Studio : PT : DLSS-P : 2xFG : 4K
---------------------------------------
Average framerate : 122.1 FPS
Minimum framerate : 117.4 FPS
Maximum framerate : 125.7 FPS
1% low framerate : 52.7 FPS
0.1% low framerate : 48.2 FPS

595.79 Studio : PT : DLSS-P : 2xFG : 4K
---------------------------------------
Average framerate : 120.6 FPS
Minimum framerate : 115.2 FPS
Maximum framerate : 126.9 FPS
1% low framerate : 52.6 FPS
0.1% low framerate : 48.2 FPS

So within run-variance, looks like they sorted PT performance. Maybe they will stay, for now :p

Oh, you couldn't help yourself in the end :p

FG eh?

Does this give any benefits ?

If your working with development kits and using the latest available hardware then yes! Running LLM with Llama.cpp for example you have to really have a modern driver before you install the toolkit so at some point using 57x.xx may cause you some issues.

A bug I've come across with the latest drivers..

I was browsing the web, and I opened another webpage with a Facebook video and the system froze ( music still playing ), and GPU reset.

The description for Event ID 153 from source nvlddmkm cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event:

\Device\000000a5
UCodeReset TDR occurred on GPUID:100

The message resource is present but the message was not found in the message table

All been stable for me so far, I have 2x browser windows open side by side even in the BG when gaming, each window has tens of tabs open like youtube, socials etc.

I can't reproduce it....

It happened once and so far not again. I had three opened tabs, and someone linked a video from a Facebook post. The Facebook page loaded and bang GPU crash.

Could have been a memory bit flip due to cosmic rays.

It sounds ridiculous but is an actual thing that happens routinely to computer systems as particles pass through solid matter and doing so at the right time can cause bit flips. Mozilla hinted at this recently on their Firefox logging metrics where a percentage of crashes were due to these very bit flips.

Damn it man, I now feel like I'm in some sort of strange Doctor Who episode

It's quite fascinating stuff, there are some documented famous cases where cosmic bit flips caused some interesting results.

mrk's setup.

Currently on the 576.88 driver with the 5090 astral stick or twist?
It's always worth updating. If the current driver works fine and the new one has issues, you can always install the old one over the top.

They may have fixed or improved things that weren't in the patch notes. The Division 2 runs much better for me with smooth motion on in the current driver compared to the last official release, and that fix certainly wasn't listed.

So is it safe to download the new driver?
Not at all, they're a ticking time bomb waiting to murder your hardware on install.

Rumour has it that these latest ones revert DX12 back to DX5 and performance on anything other than the 5000 series degrades to the extent that performance becomes equal to a GeForce 2 MX.

I'd steer well clear fella.
