Before last time I felt that without money it wouldn't be the same. There would be silly bets, people not really caring, etc.

I was wrong, I was there right till the end and I found it to be a good game.

Whilst I agree with you, I can sort of see where he is coming from. If you have ever played for money on the betfair games, you find a lot of people don't take it seriously and mess the game up. Whereas when playing for money it's competitive.

Hopefully, this game won't be anything like that

I'm confused. Do you mean if I've ever played play money rather than real money?

I know the games online (I use Betfair myself) vary massively from play money to real money, but we either have play money or nothing...

I don't see the point in the arguement here. No matter what anyone says, this will not be a game for money.

If you think that will remove your enjoyment, then it's quite simple. Press the 'back' button and don't get involved.

If you played in the last tournament then you would know it was nothing like that. Everyone played serious and i believe it went on for just under 3 hours showing people didn't make stupid bets.
 
Is there any particular reason why it isnt being done for money? Thought as long as its being done through a proper site it was all legal?
Im up for it either way, date dependant. Would rather win some money for my troubles though :E

Well, my point was to everyone. The point that those that have played will know the difference and in your case, you obviously do mate as you have made the same point in saying the differences are massive.

I'm happy to play either way though, so if it's play money then that's fine.

edit - yes, you're right, I obviously got distracted whilst writing my original post. Thankfully you understood though! ;~)
 
We need to decide on a time and date really, I do think we should try a different night from last time as Sunday did exclude a few people, Id prefer a midweek game. Once everyones in ill do a head count and add it to the first post.

Im in no matter which day, its just the time that worries me because of the time difference.

Oh, is there a way we can test the client before the game? Cause i've never played online before and im not sure how the client works at all. Plus if any ports need forwarding, i'd prefer to have that done waaaaay before the game starts. :p

No port fowarding is required, download and test the client now, i think there's some free tables on Royalcity

Alright... i think i downloaded the right client, i chose not to play for real money, but all im seeing is poker machines, not tables.

People like that are welcome to play against me any day, they may win a few big pots now and then by catching a lucky card on the river, but they'll lose more in the long run, especially when they come up against a decent hand.

I work for a poker company (Betfair Poker). I might be able to get a free-roll tournament set-up for you to play this in if you like.

Might even be able to throw in a chipset or something as a prize if you get enough people to play.
