Received my Ultima 10.1" this morning

No micro SD card included though, so perhaps one of the mods can help me on this!

Initial thoughts on opening were that the tablet is stunning to look at and feels superb in the hands especially the Alloy back-plate, it feels cold and smooth to the touch
The touchscreen is superbly responsive and really bright with only the lightest flick of a finger touch moving you between screens, very impressed with OCUK here and the 1280X800 IPS panel.
All the settings are very easy to get too and understand and I have been surfing the web on this tablet using the websites classic settings as opposed to Android settings and getting the full richness of websites just like my normal PC, the screen easily handles websites like this due to the 10.1" size making reading web pages a pleasure.

I am charging it right now so have turned it off for a full charge to condition the battery

One small tip for people is when you first connect to Wifi and input your routers password, the tablet wouldn't connect as you would normally think it would it just kept trying to connect but didn't actually do anything, what I done was pressed the home button then turned the tablet off and then rebooted and the Wifi was then working perfectly and has been since, I thought there was a fault with the unit but a reboot then configures and sets the wifi settings, thought I would post that here for peeps!

I will add more as I use the tablet ;)

Initial impressions though are its a superb unit

Your first impressions are looking very hopeful and thanks for the tip! Just hope mine gets delivered tomorrow so I can use it over the weekend.

Make a post in the CS section about your memory card. http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=72

I also ordered one of these today to connect to the TV.

I could have sworn I saw this at £150 this morning, it is now £180?? Any up and coming deals in the new year perhaps? At £180 I'm tempted to spend a little bit more and pick up something from a retail store (such as an Iconia tab) for extra peace of mind / returns.

That was pre-order pricing and the Christmas Day Tablet Offer.

Were working on building a Nexus 10 competitor, but maybe with quad core and Mali T604 graphics. :D

Shall be epic with circa 32GB for about £299, but about 4-6 weeks away.

This is not what I want to hear. :p

Will the screen res match the Nexus 10?

Looks like I have 2 pixels on mine, but one might be dirt, it's smaller in size. Also light bleed from the bottom left corner.

I am not actually sure on what the regulations/guidelines are and how many in considered to be a fault. Drop a post in CS/Tech forum as the tech guys will know.

But six sounds a lot so I'd be surprised if the regulations don't deem that faulty.

7. TVs and Monitors. If your query relates to a Television or Monitor, specifically in relation to dead pixels, please be aware that all of Overclockers’ Suppliers and thus Overclockers UK conform to the ISO 13406-2 standard – the acceptable number of dead pixels based on screen size and resolution. Information on this can be found through any major search engine typing “ISO 13406-2” and the monitor brand name. Products with dead pixels of equal to or less than those defined within the ISO 13406-2 standard will not be accepted for return

Mine was ordered early afternoon Xmas day iirc

Android upgrade Flash player workaround

First thing to do is uninstall the Flash player that came with the Ultima, then install the newer upgrade..

Go to Settings
Scroll down to Apps
Adobe Flash payer is at the top click then menu will appear and press uninstall

Then click this link to download the latest Flash player and install it..

http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/installers/archive/android/11.1.115.34/install_flash_player_ics.apk

Reboot the Tablet and open your choice of browser and surf to www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer and Voila iPlayer is up and running in a jiffy! Enjoy :D

I've tried that but still does not work.

No what I mean is Chrome does not work! The browser on the tablet is the one which works.

Well for me Chrome refused to work and the tablets browser was fine.

Can confirm that my problem was Chrome as I had it set as default browser but iplayer works with the stock tablet browser.

Chrome hasn't got Flash support. You could go into app settings, find the iPlayer app and clear the defaults. When you next load it up, it should prompt you for which browser you want to use again.

I've tried clearing the defaults for iplayer & media player and rebooting but it does not prompt me which browser to use, it loads Chrome.

Cleared data & cache for Chrome but it still loads as the default browser for iplayer.

Also tried uninstalling & reinstalling iplayer & media player, this does not work either.

I solved it by installing Firefox which now gives me the browser choice window.

[Edit] Firefox doesn't work either.

Clearing data on Chrome won't change it as a default application. Scroll down a bit more to where it says Launch by Default.

I'll have a look for this anyway.

[Edit] Cleared Chrome 'Launch by Default'

Ha you got there in the end mate..;)

Eventually! :o:D

Strange as when I looked earlier I couldn't access the Launch by Default setting.

How did you get Firefox to work with iplayer, as mine gives me the same message as Chrome?

Stock browser is fine.

Just search for Merlin using the search bar on the top and will give you these options..:D

I tried searching but don't get the same choice as you. Is this in the stock browser?

So far I have been impressed with this tablet for the few hours I have been using it.

Gripes so far are;

1) Back light bleed bottom left had corner
2) 2 x Dead/Stuck pixels and/or dirt (they are different in size)
3) Noise interference when using headphones

How are people finding the battery life? I have run mine down and then fully recharged but it seems a little on the short side.

If you have the option in your browser settings for "Always request desktop site" you don't need iplayer just go to bbc iplayer and pick a HD program..Done.

But make sure it's over wireless not 3g.

Thanks, got the HD options now.

Using the Dolphin browser menu select > More > Settings > User Agent > Select Desktop

[Edit] It prompts you to install flash.

Using the stock browser is no problem, just select 'Resquest desktop site' option from the menu which is selected from the top right corner of the browser.
