Caporegime
I am not allowed to join this thread as I am one of the uncool kids that prefers makers mark/ woodford reserve/ JD single barrel / gentleman Jack.
I will soon infiltrate the group as I have acquired a bottle of Glenmorangie 10 Year Old for £11.
Welcome dude - (you're the guy with the classic Celica - right?)
You'll find Glenmorangie (regardless how much you paid for it) isn't exactly classed as a *brilliant* malt whisky on here. While I agree it is nice and it is a lovely starter whisky (certainly better than JD) there's a lot better out there for not too much more in price. Still I'll be interested in reading your reviews on this and look forward to recommending a few more for your enjoyment should you consider continuing your journey down this path.
Hi, yeah I have a 95 celica gt4 please don't hold my love for it against me.
I am looking forward to trying new things however I already know I am not a fan of peaty whisky so if that helps with your recommendations.
Also, saw this today which is quite funny:

And finally - Loving Glen Gerioch 12 right now. My flat is quite warm, for once, and it's so much nicer when the whisky isn't freezing haha. It's a whisky that reminds me of Christmas!
Where do I start?
I like Jameson's too - not my preferred choice but its nice clean taste is a welcome change now and again.
I drive an MR2 Turbo and can't seem to bring myself to get rid of it. I keep saying I'm going to flog it and get a Jag (comfort, speed and style) but, every time I drive the MR2, I change my mind - middle age crisis on a budget
The sound of the turbo spooling in my left ear sends shivers down my spine - something a Celica driver won't appreciate .
Royal Locnagar (as regularly recommended by Sonea Fifer) is indeed a splendid whisky and one I've had on several occasions (Oddly, I once bought a bottle of the 12yo and a bottle of the 18yo when meeting up with my parents for the weekend to have a comparison and all 3 of us agreed that the 12yo was considerably better than the 18yo - just goes to show that older whisky isn't necessarily the best). Give the 12yo a bash - it's a good whisky. Also consider Dalwhinnie 15yo - it's a damn good whisky.
Almost missed one. Glenkinchie 12yo. It's reasonably priced and very nice and not overpowering. I'm having a glass just now and I'm getting vanilla oak with a touch of grass and a floral hint on the nose. Taste is mostly oak with a hint of liquorice and a touch of spice. Finish is longish with liquorice being prevalent but with a slight hint of peat. A wonderfully complex whisky and not ridiculously expensive either.
BURN HIM!
nydryl, my girlfriend is convinced that she saw you a few weeks ago. Were you on Great Western Road in that Mexican deli place with a girl, around the date before the Mexican beer had to be entered. She reckons it has to be a forum member because "his girlfriend looked as ****ed off as I was, having to be dragged around random shops to find a sodding beer".
I guess I can feel smug knowing I can use my power all year round in nearly all weathers something a MR2 driver won't appreciate.
lol.
Balvenie Doublewood or Macallan 10.
What's your budget?
Stan, have you tried anything from the Kilchoman distillery?
Fess up ahleckz, you have shares in Balvenie!
