The OCZ Vertex 3 Thread

I just had to RMA my 120GB Vertex 3.. was having loads of issues - iaStor0 errors, failing drivers and services, antivirus not working, system freezes, and the System Event Viewer log filled with errors and critical errors..

Tried Windows Clean Install on a normal HDD (taking the SSD out) and everything worked fine, including my BitDefender! Should have a replacement soon - will post some benchies :)

The iaStor error could have been due to your motherboard and not you drive. I had to RMA my P8P67 Pro for that reason. I'm glad I didn't update my firmware as I've had no problems since installing my V3 - such a good drive.

Your problem was coming from only parameter related to your motherboard bios ... The RMA won't fix anything.

Your issues were discussed a long time ago and the solution is very simple (approved by Asus for example if you have an Asus MB) :

You just have to "enable" hot plug for all your SATA devices (above all the port on which your SSD is connected) in the bios !

Any 1 know why my results are so low.

Just upgraded to a Asus P8Z68-V motherboard which has intel sata 3 controller as my old X58 was crashing all the time because of the Marvel controller.

This is the best benchmark as i was never getting over 300mbps write.

Here's mine, right on the money on a Asus P8P67 Pro with no BSOD's or other issues. Average Boot time is 46sec from pressing the On button with 30sec of that the Bios so just 16sec's to desktop -

The Sata3 ports run on Marvell controllers don't they?
While the Sata2's run on JMicron?
Two controllers that most folk claim kill SSD performance.

other than ianh obvious decent benchies, has anyone got anything to say about the preferred controllers on the P67 boards please?
