The Offical Lian Li PC-A05 Owners Discussion/Modding Thread!

I figured that might the the case, at first glance though I thought he had managed to wedge some kind of blower fan in there, and I was trying to figure out what it was attached to. The cable management makes mine look like a complete mess.

You no better photos conan? Quite intrested in that triple in the roof but the focus in those pics is a bit... wierd lol. Nice work though!

I'll try to get some in the next couple of days....

The triple rad fits up top quite nicely, you could still run XFire/SLI if you wanted, depending on how thick your rad is... Although you do lose the top 5.25 bay... It would likely fit a fan controller in it though!

Hi All

Well my last cables came in so I was able to finish the build today.

I overclocked it to 2.99 GHz and the temp's look pretty good at that setting when running Prime95 combined.

It was a fun build but it sure takes a lot of time and almost 2K to get to what I have now.

Thanks for all the compliments but most of the ideas came from others on the forum so I want to thank everyone that helped with the build.

Here is the final result.

Amazing build edvb!
Just a quick question regarding the Vandal switches, did you have to make any modifications to the case to make them fit or did they fit straight out of the box?

The power switch fit ok but I had to enlarge the reset switch hole from about 3/8" to 5/8" hole.

Then I had to make a harness with two three pin connectors so I could remove the front panel quickly if needed.

Making everything fit well without having the wiring in back showing took a while.

Wow thanks guys.

I changed the settings for my overclocking and redid Prime95 Combined.

How does everything look ? I am new to overclocking and this PC is on 24/7.

Well I have my PC running pretty good now. I ended up at 3.2 GHz and 1600 on the memory.
I got my Razer Mamba mouse and decided to get a pair of Audioengine A5 speakers to finish it off.
Thanks for all the help on this build.

Good job on the braiding there, I have the same power supply and wondering if it was worth it, but it looks good. Must have took a while. Nice build, well done.

Finally got my build finished, only had it running a couple of days now. Sorry for poor quality photos, taken with my phone.

Here's the A05 up next to my old V2010. Look at the size difference!!

I forgot to take some photos of the holes i cut, i'll try and remember at some point. I've done as much as i can be bothered to with regards to cable management. I customised one of the Corsair power cables by moving the sata power cables to the exact positions needed and soldering on a floppy connector (for the Xonar) and two fan conenctors at 7v. This meant that everything in the case is powered from the one cable coming from the power supply.

BS-03

Great news Richdog, can't wait to see some pics.:)

I've had my system built for about a month now and I am very happy with the case and new computer.

I added 2 new switches to the front of the case, a 22mm Delrin Vandal Resistant Illuminated Black - Blue Ring for the on/off and a 16mm Delrin Vandal Resistant Illuminated Black - Blue Dot for the reset/hdd activity.

I'm also thinking of putting in a load of Thermalright stuff in the case now, 2 chipset coolers and 2 mosfet coolers as my Asus Rampage Formula is running a bit hot.

Not surprising realy as i've got my Intel Q9450 overclocked to 3.6ghz and 4x1gb sticks of ram in it.

Also I've got a BFG GeForce 9800 GX2 in there and it kicks out loads of heat into the case as it is not a vented graphics card.

I've ordered a Lian Li BS-03 cooler to vent the hot air from the graphics card out the back of the case. It should help with the heat.

All 5 yate's @ 12V about 1400 RPM

Graphics card fan @ 1000 RPM

My current (idle) temps according to Everest Ultimate Edition are:

Motherboard = 35 C

CPU Core 1 = 47 C
CPU Core 2 = 44 C
CPU Core 3 = 44 C
CPU Core 4 = 44 C

Northbridge = 53 C
Southbridge = 43 C

GPU 1 = 51 C
GPU 2 = 49 C

I'll try and get some pics up tomorrow.

Hi k3v1n
I'm think of getting the BS-03 as my 4870 (stock) is running rather hot. Up to 80c. What do you think of the BS-03, did it lower your temps?

Thanks in advance

Nice feet

Where can I get feet like that?

Another premium case mod product from MNPCTech! A set of 4 billet machined aluminum case feet with diamond cut edges! These are beautifully black anodized!

Scythe Kaze Maru 140mm. Will they fit?

Hi guys
I've just bought my A05 and I'm thinking of upgrading the 2 x 120mm stock fans with Scythe Kaze Maru 140mm 1200RPM. The description says, "Can be installed using 120mm fan mounting holes". I'm just a little concerned about clearance around the exhaust fan at the front. Anyone tried this before? I'm also going to fit the Lian Li BS-03/06.

Edit: I've measured both fan spaces, I think it's going to be too tight, and as 10mm of the fan tips is going to be hidden, it might not be worth it anyway.

edvb, I'd be careful if I were you - you're not allowed to link to competitors. Best remove the link to avoid a warning from those in charge.:)
