Do we know how much the base model Air will be?
£1249 for the 8/8/8Gb/256Gb
£1549 for the 8/10/8Gb/512Gb

That's cores, GPU cores, memory, SSD.

Increasing the memory is an extra £200/8Gb so if you want to take it to 24Gb, add £400.

Unless I'm seeing a pricing error, the new 13" Pro is 1349/1549 for the same specs. So the base model is £100 more expensive than the Air but the 8/10/8Gb/512Gb version is the same price as the Air.

I've got an M1 Air at the moment and I'm in no real rush to upgrade, though more RAM would be nice and the newer design does appeal.

I did try a 14" MBP out last year but I returned it in the end, mainly because I thought it was a bit of a waste for my needs. Perhaps when they bring out an M2 Pro 14" MBP I'll be all over that because shiny new toy syndrome will undoubtedly kick in. It will definitely be interesting to see how these M2 chips perform, especially since we know there's more to come with Pro/Max variants in the future.

It is pretty poor that the base "pro" still has only 8Gb RAM. I can just about live with a 256Gb SSD but do need to splurge +£200 for the RAM.

BTW... US prices start at $1199. So the old £ for $ model seems to be shifting...

Air looks nice in Midnight.

My preferred spec of Air with 16Gb RAM and 256Gb SSD and base power adapter (faster capacity or extra ports is an upsell) is £1449

...orders not being taken yet though.

Probably the 16GB RAM MacBook Air model for me. I don't need anything crazy spec wise but I do want to be able to do some decent amount of multitasking so 8GB of RAM probably isn't enough for me.

Also note that the new models don't get any company discounts like the M1 MBA and 13" MBP did. I bought mine through my work discount link and got a few percent off.
