Glad they've upped the maximum RAM on the 13 but one external display on a "pro" machine is pathetic.

I don't think it is a replacement for the M1 Mac Air, which they will still sell. It is a lot more money, and more like a new product category between the air and the pros I think. I will still but the M1 Air, especially if it now drops in price a bit.

For the casual user, the M1 Air is still hard to beat. You are hardly going to care about that 20% speed in playing Wordle.

I only just realised that this M2 Macbook Pro still has the touchbar and doesn't have magsafe.

Why would anyone get the M2 13” Pro though? Seems more expensive and worse than the Air.

13" pro is a real oddball machine now. I can't think of any good reason to get it over the air.

If sustained performance is on your shopping list your probably better off with the 14”.

Yeah, I did not notice that despite watching the damn thing, I just assumed it was the same design as the 14" I blame mostly being interested in iPadOS improvements.
I thought that the first M1 MacBook Pro, the 13" one, was just a way to get an M1 laptop out before the 14" model came along. Even at the time I thought it a bit odd given that it doesn't really offer much over the M1 Air, aside from better battery life. I'm really quite surprised that they've refreshed it, I just can't see what the point is. It's not as if it even has any more ports either - just the previous design, no MagSafe, the slightly better GPU and touch bar for £100 extra.

My 2016 MBP is starting to get on a bit and really needs replacing, but the single external screen support is really killing me as I want a smaller machine that is able to be docked and used properly

I've been tempted to upgrade my 2018 MBP to one of the new M2 but it doesn't feel like it's worth it yet. Strange the 13" new design doesn't have the notch when all the others do.
