Are you buying a 24" M1 iMac?

Not in any rush as I’m still using an M1 max MacBook Pro that work gave me but it’s only temporary until April when I’ll then have to buy myself something.

You can buy an M1 mac mini on Amazon for £649 which is good value I think compared to the base MacBook Air/pro prices.
 
Seems Apple might not release a larger iMac according to 9to5 (https://9to5mac.com/2022/03/11/excl...no-plans-to-release-a-new-larger-screen-imac/) which is a shame, as we're looking to do an upgrade in the office later this year.

Does anyone know what Apple are likely to do with the 24" iMac come Aug/Sept? Will it likely just be a slight spec bump, use M1 Pro/Max, or will we see a new "M" processor for it?

I think we will see M2 in the iMac next. Not sure when. Don’t think they will bring the Pro or Max to the iMac, they will keep those for the Pro devices.

My guess is that the next 24" iMac will have the vanilla M2 chip. There may be another larger higher end iMac down the road but it won't be cheap anymore, e.g. £5000 or more to replace the old iMac Pro rather than a mainstream product.

After reading that the iPad Pro is coming later in the year than usual I think there will be an M2 event where new generations various devices will be announced with said chip.

Would be very nice if Apple settled on an annual M-series update across all devices. Like in November all devices get upgraded to the next-gen M-series chip, from iPads all the way to Mac Pro. Not gonna happen though due to supply chain issues.
 
Following the discussions in the Mac Studio/Studio Display threads, I bagged a second Dell P2715Q monitor on eBay for £125 so that I could have three screens when I do finally order the Mac Studio.

I thought I could have them both connected to my interim 24" iMac but apparently it can only run one external display! There are a few videos on YouTube of people using USB-C hubs that allow you to add two extra screens, but they're expensive.

Does anyone know of a hub that doesn't cost £150+ that would allow me to do it? Or another way of running two external displays on the iMac?

it's limited by the chip not ports.
