****The Official 7900 overclocking thread****

New 3dmark05 score is now at 11174...my 3d06 is 6310....1.4v on core....no mod on mem as i don't really see peep's benefit much from looking at other score's..... only a chance of frying it:D
Edit: above 05 pic

Ive been using the MSI tool that came on the last set of beta drivers released, its allowed me to goto 684 core 915 mem stable, im hoping when my new case arrives it will be a lot better cooled and i can sneak that up a bit, memory started artifacting at 930.

Are any of these cards actually limited to stock speeds?

I've just fitted a 7900GT sold as the stock 450/660. Coolbits auto-detect showed 553/784. I thought that was a flakey result on the auto-detect because it was such a large overclock, so I went up a bit at a time, checking load GPU temps, until I thought "oh well, may as well" and used the autodetect settings.

The card works perfectly stably at them, with max GPU temp under load of 53C on stock cooling.

3dMark06: 4427, score brought down by my now relatively weak GPU (A64 Venice@2250).

SM 2.0 Score 2180 Marks
SM 3.0 Score 2139 Marks
CPU Score 876 Marks

22.8% o/c on GPU and 18.8% on memory with stock cooling. Result!

I found the memory has lots of space as well. Broke 10,000 last night on 3dmark05 (10,019 in fact), artifact free, with 555/1824. Got 4900 exactly on 06 with the same settings. (thanks to those who suggested I try ATItool, that's what let me get the memory higher). I still can't play Oblivion on more than about 530/1550 before it starts freezing up with static, but I think that's lack of volts. Hopefully I'll get a chance to do the volt mod this weekend.

Trojan, you can get a conductive ink pen from Maplan, and Halfords sell conductive ink too I understand. The pens aren't cheap though. If you can find one for less than £20 you're a better man than me.

By the way vocch, well done. My friends 2x7800gtxs only get 11,200 or so at 3dmark05 at stock speeds. Can I ask what your max 'completely stable' overclock is? I mean the gap between my max benching overclock and my max gaming overclock is pretty large. I am just wondering if it's lack of volts.

Congrat's at breaking 10k....the reason i did'nt mod my mem as it aint great anyway compared to others 1650 is tops with mod on core 1700 without....and remember your core can throttle/freeze....your mem can fry....and i for one don't like the sound of that :)

sorry mate....i did not game with 1.55...only when i done 1.4vmod....and i could bench at 665....so i gamed at 630....not that i could'nt do further... with 1.5v got a max of 705 core + 730 core with 1.55 for benching only i am now back to 1.3v which fails coolbits at 630... so i will game at 600 :)

I'm a little nervous about that too. I am also curious about how the core and memory balance in terms of stable overclocks. With a core of 575 the memory won't go higher than 1550 or so, but dropping the core by 20mhz allowed nearly more 300mhz on the memory.

I wonder what the safe heat/volt level is with these cards on air. I'd love to think that 1.55v was within reason 24/7, I mean a X1900XT would still run hotter at stock settings, but maybe these cores just aren't made for that that heat.

Here's my final scores wth core at 730 which i am well happy with even without mem mod....temp's did'nt break mid 50's at load with desktop fan helping to keep it cool. ;)

That's an excellent overclock! :) You're on a Zalman vf900 right - safe enough? Looks exciting that you've got it at 730MHz core without memory mod! My stock 7900GT is at 1650MHz. Hopefully I can hit those high core speeds...

Very very impressive. I might be able to compete with you on 3dmark05 after doing the volt mod myself, but your 06 score is outragous (because of the dual core processor). Do any single cards out there get these sort of scores on stock settings? Maybe a 7900gtx XXX edition.

From your signature, are you on stock voltages at the moment?

Thanks guys...and yes that is with a zalman...and can't see why you could not acheive the same....go for it. :)
