****The Official 7900 overclocking thread****

Yep, still at stock volts. I'm hoping that the extra volts on the core will let me keep a high stable speed on the memory too as there is deffinately a balancing act between the two that i've never seen before. At the top end of the core the reduction of mhz allows nearly a 1:15 increase on the memory.

Excellent stuff. When I get some conductive paint off my friend, I will try overclock the core with modded volts. I think my benchmarks might be hindered slightly, although on dual core, I'm currently on 2.6GHz at the moment. :)

Very very impressive. I might be able to compete with you on 3dmark05 after doing the volt mod myself, but your 06 score is outragous (because of the dual core processor). Do any single cards out there get these sort of scores on stock settings? Maybe a 7900gtx XXX edition.

Well i just had a look about and it's not a perfect match take into consideration gpu/cpu speeds...but scores are identical with a X2 4400+ @ 2530 - XFX 7900GTX XXX 512mb overclocked to 720/930 from stock of 700/1800 and my opteron165 @ 2788 7900gt @ 730/1650 exact same 3DMark05 score of 11734.

Bought some conductave paint from Halfords for £8.99 :D
Now I need the balls, how much do they cost?

My friend bought some conductive paint for about £6.99, and he only needs 2p worth - that was expensive as it is, but a conductive pen costs even more at £20.

Get a standard 7900GT and clock the hell out of it, they're pretty cheap. :)

I have the XFX Extreme Edition.
I just need the balls to do this now :p

Aha.. ok :) Same here... am waiting for some paint. :) But don't want to paint the whole thing in conductive material.

Oh...forgot to mention with the 1.5v coolbits failed at 710...which i benched at 705 artifact free....a tip for you guys i applied paint with a match stick which i sharpened to fine point with a stanley... just be carefull you don't apply too much and blob it on....anyone using rivatuner yet?

Nice tip mate, using the brush that came with the paint required some skill!

I would also reccommend some masking tape for those who are just trying out the volt mod. :)

Where are all the people with the 7900 GTX's?
I have no comparisons to make with regards my clocks :p

Seems we are the only 2 with them :)

What are your clocks at anyway? Mine can go slightly higher on core, but i run at 675/915 for day to day running. It can run at 700 but freezes after gaming for 20 mins or so.

Currently running at 690/1800 and its stable and gets me 64 points short of 12k in 05.

TBH i haven't tried higher but i will be, due to me wanting to break 12k ,not that I will notice in real terms though :p

Hi....yes it is possible to use the old rivatuner....that's what i'm saying....but the only problem i get is using the temp monitoring part.

If anyone want to give it a go...in poweruser...ForceVGADeviceID and enter 92...this forces rivatuner to recognise 7900gt...found this bit of info last night. :)

vocch, can you tell me which tutorials you followed for both the 1.4v and 1.5v mod on your 7900GT? Just want to make sure. :)

Hi kbc...i did not follow any tutorial...all i did was print out a pic of vmod have it in front of you so you know what ones your painting...i guess to try and make it a bit easier you can mask part that has to be painted...i didn't....if you do mask be carefull not to use too much paint because if masked seal ain't tight it could run under tape making a mess....just use a match stick like i did have sharpen with stanley to a long fine point and just take your time...and try not to apply too much in one go...now go and get that mod done. :D

@ bazx...not sure mate....give it a go...if it don't recognise you can allways uninstall and use ati tool which i do anyway for temps as like i said rivatuner don't seem to work for temp monitoring just crap's out...so up to you. :)

Hi vocch... I'm currently testing on 1.4v, are you sure cooling with a Zalman VF900 is sufficient for hitting 1.5 volts?

When was 1.5v needed and at what core speed was it required?
