***The Official 8HR Stability 5820k/5930k/5960X Overclocking Thread***

As usual, depends on your chip, all should typically do 4Ghz, but the 'target' seems to be the 4.5Ghz mark. I'm happy with mine at 4.5Ghz (not tried any higher) but the debate seems to be skewed as to what is the definitive stability test (within this thread).

First time Overclocking on X99 even though i had it since launch

5930K @ 4.5ghz Running max 1.288V
32GB @ 2400mhz Ram
Max Temperture 72c

should 1.288V be fine to run 24/7 if its adaptive? Idle running @ 0.800v

Can't see why not if you have decent cooling, mines @1.275v. Have you ran the stress test as suggested by easyrider at the beginning of the thread ?

Heres one to get it started.
Took 15mV more on the core and VCCIN than 8 hours AIDA64 needed.

1.280V max core, 64C average max core temp (Ambient ~25C) I'm pretty happy with this being my 24/7 setting. Although I will probably increase the cache frequency and retest.

Is that under custom water mate ?

cool I just put my x99 rig together with a supremacy EVO and a 360 ek rad and was getting mid 50's at 3.6ghz (stock volts) when priming with the fans sets to 9v. Seems about right considering your getto setup and OC. Im going to take it slow with my OCing.

I tend to get the poorer end of things on the silicon lottery. My last CPU was a 2600k that needed over 1.35v to get stable at 4.6v (I could push it top 4.7 with much more voltage

I get my 5820k bundle today so I will be posting here over the weekend. I have always had bad luck with the CPU lottery. Always lucky on GPUs saying that.

I did a little 20-30 minute test, I know it does not qualify but I wanted to play games so I will do the 8 hours tomorrow.

But, here is mine 21 mins on:

4.4 @ 1.117 Volts.
Noctua D14 Air Cooler
Temps average 42c

I am really shocked at the low volts and I have not crashed on any game nor any stress test like realbench etc.

You passed 8hr realbench stress with your max memory. ?
Screenie ? :)

I have not done the 8 hours yet due to having time to do it but I have passed realbench and extensive rendering over the last few days with the max memory set also.

TBH if it can pass 40 runs on realbench then it is going to milk Aida for 8 hours.

I will however complete the 8 hour test and post screenies when I have time.

I personally have a thing for 4.4Ghz on CPU's I feel it is a great spot for temps, volts & speed and considering my is running 4.4Ghz on 1.117 volts I love it. The temps are sooooooo low, it’s insane. I feel I have struck gold with this CPU.

I sold up my custom water cooling loop, just not worth the hassle now days, you always hit a CPU (Volts/Ghz) limit rather than a heat limit.
