Looks like you will need Steam anyway. For the pre-order gubbins you get, it says that a Steam account is required.
 
Nothing linked here> AVP3 is going to be available on steam. The bonus is supplied via steam. Never used steam before, presumably I'll get the disc in the post, could I then use steam to play it without the disc and access the pre-order bonus? Thoughts anyone?
 
You'll use the activation key to activate the game on Steam - if you order it online via play then you normally get the media in the post and have the option of entirely downloading it off steam or installing it off disk.

No CD / etc. required to play.

Nope, you never get a physical disk. You generally have to be connected to steam to play the game, although you can play in offline mode for most games.

Your game is always available to re-download if you delete it.
 
In that case then, given the content is steam powered, I assume the cd key from the physical purchase can be used and the full game unlocked in steam.........
 
Steam is the way forward really, theres a reason its become so sucessful.

Cant fault it bar the fact you cant sell your games once your finished with them.

And the fact that most of the time they charge far more than you can get the boxed retail version for.

Yeah but if you start your own official thread in light of these your e-peen grows by over 9000.

That said, I've pre-ordered the game and can't wait.
