The second gen iPad pro will stream HDR but doesn't do 4k only way to verify what version of a film you true have is to start playing it on a 4k apple tv and swipe down.

thanks Vila. yes, some titles are registering as 4k but play in 1080p only. As per the thread on the apple forum above it is not clear whether this is a glitch or a permanent license problem. If it is the latter, there is no option to upgrade (at present). Looking at my VUDU homepage on the web, the only way to get a UHD license is to buy the whole film again at full whack.

On a side note, I can see apples point regarding the flow and speed of the menus being affected if not at 60hz, when the box is set to 24hz it seems far more clunky.

The movies anywhere app won’t give you any film in Dolby digital, HDR or 4K.

Use the apple movies app that is linked to your movies anywhere account to get the best quality on the Apple TV

Also can’t login to VUDU on the Apple TV unless I setup my router with a VPN, that’s a shame as I’ve redeemed a few films through VUDU but I never checked and they didn’t port to MA.

I’ll continue to use the official movie app then and delete MA.

If you're movies haven't ported overt can be worth disconnecting the iTunes and Vudu accounts on the Movies anywhere webpage, then reconnecting them.- and of course remember that Lionsgate and Paramount haven't joined movies anywhere so their films won't port.

There’s 3 films that haven’t ported and upon checking they aren’t able to port from VUDU so that’s why I want to login to VUDU on my Apple TV so I can watch them whenever I like. I got the 3 hobbit films through VUDU but sadly they didn’t port to MA.

The Hobbit films should port - I have 2 that i redeemed from US Blu Ray UV codes in Vudu and the ported to MA and iTunes

JFYI - Stranger things Season 2 is displaying as Dolby Vision on the Apple 4k box via the Netflix app. It is not showing as Dolby Vision on Android TV, it instead simply gives you 4k.
