I'l be surprised if that does a better job than the pre-installed one without a fan that is. Will be interesting anyway, Ive got a 92mm Amber blowing over the stock cooler and with the NB on the highest Volt settings its still just cool enough to touch for extended periods.Minstadave said:I've ordered on of these:

Was going to go for the Thermalright HR-05 SLI Chipset Cooler, but this was much cheaper.
Will let you know if its up to the job of keeping the chipset temps under control.

Is this normal?

FSB of just over 470, the picture of the Zalman didnt realy do it justice i spose. As soon as i can confirm that the Swiftech NB cooler is compatable with this mobo i'l add it to my loop, that will rid the case of a lot of warm air.WJA96 said:If you measure the fins on the stock cooler, that Zalman one has almost double the surface area. The stock cooler is big and simple, the Zalman big and complex. For the fiver it costs it can't be a bad idea, surely?
What's your FSB? I only found I had a problem with the NB on high FSB's - 450+ at those sorts of speeds I could feel the heat from the motherboard at the side panel nearest the motherboard on the outside of the case. I reckon if the case is too hot to touch in places, you need to cool that spot better!
I'm using telekenisis to float the fans inside my case.clv101 said:My FSB is only at 333MHz so far and I haven't increased the voltage. The NB heatsink is warm to the touch but not at all "hot". I have a little 40mm 3pin fan here from an old Celeron HSF that I could add to the NB - but how to make it stick? What do people use to attach the fan?
Keep us all posted mate.Minstadave said:The Zalman will be going in this evening, have to go pick it up from my college. It should outperform the stock cooler nicely, its got a lot more surface area, and the base of the fins all meet near the NB core unlike the stock cooler, which doesn't have many fins near the core at all.

clv101 said:Try leaving all the voltages on "Auto". Are you sure you're running the RAM okay, not overclocking it too far? As default just increasing the FSB would have pushed my PC6400 out of spec pretty quick.
Disable the BIOS POST splash screen so you can see the speed the memory is trying to run at.
