4890 has 285 bothering qualities and is 45% of the price!
5850 does substantially more bothering than the 4890 though!

Hi there
Well overclocking wise they seem very good!
Your looking at 1000-1050MHz on the core on the 5870!
In the region of 5200MHz-5500MHz on the memory.
Needless to say these things can be cranked up quite a bit.
claiming that the ati dx11 cards that are coming in a few months(ended up delayed) will render the gtx 295 obsolete and that its pointless to buy a gtx 295 etc. well it wasnt really...
I think it has rendered the 295 obsolete hasnt it?
It's generally cheaper, has close performance to the 295 beating it sometimes, DX11 and most important of all you don't have the faff with multiGPU.
Unless the price was significantly different who would buy a 295 over a 5870 now?
I'm not knocking the 295 and I'm sure owners of it are very happy.
I'd imagine the 295 will now respond by falling in price.
as for noise i refer you to a review i picked at random

i like the line
oh edit: I rest my case
but if your a die hard nvidia fan is single gpu and 30 quid enough to tempt you accross the water as to speak,
so i presume nvidia fans will still prefer the 295
that's true I wonder if they are even fabbing them anymore?
I think people are missing a bigger point here. From what I read the card is almost silent when idle. Now my question to anyone is what is your machine doing when under load? I bet 90% of poeple will say playign a game so this brings me to my point of....do you not have game sound on when playing games? Personally I use headphones and cant hear a bomb drop let alone a gpu fan.
frankly, i'm still on an 8800GTX and the only thing i can't run at a comfortable FPS 100% of the time is Crysis. i don't expect i'll upgrade my 8800 untill it breaks...
my orders gone to complete
