*** The Official Battlefield 2042 thread***

Yep squad isn't run and gun so puts a lot of people off straight away. They need to be getting 10 kills a minute from their heli to have a satisfying experience.

Squad is fantastic, however its a totally different style of game to Battlefield / COD. It's more sim than action shooter

Very true - a much more tactical and coordinated game than the BF series. Squad is much more immersive and time to kill is very low (realistic). Very different.

I'm hoping with 128 players that maybe the maps are quite large - where the demo seems very hectic/chaotic maybe map size will be the definitive parameter of how 'close' the games will be.

Best thing about Battlefield up to number 4 was clan run servers, where things like no-sniper/infantry only/no M320/high ping kick and 60hz servers etc instead of the vanilla game with everything switched on.

BF1 & 5 just didn't 'feel' the same as it's predecessors - if there's no hardcore option with lower TTK then it's probably a no for me. If it goes down the plethora of personal perks route like CoD, then it's also a no for me.

Rather against the flow in this particular tread, but I'm actually fairly happy with the Seasons/Years system rather than Premium systems. It allows me to give extra money to games that are good and I enjoy whilst also having new maps and weaponry added for free, rather than premium where you have too pay to get access to those items. With R6 Siege for example: I've had that for a while and because I've played it for a fair amount of time, I'm happy spending £20 a year to get some snazzy extra stuff.

If BF2042 is good and I get a good year out of it, then I'm sure I'll be happy in 2022/23 to spend an extra £20/30.

Looking forward to the gameplay trailer - fingers crossed it looks good!

What is the significance of ''cross-gen bundle'' on PC? I understand likely a PS4 > PS5 upgrade path but this is taken straight from the steam page and labelled accordingly.

Seems like an error that they've copied from the console versions of that graphic.

They are having a closed alpha in July, I guess its possible that the people who get access to that Alpha will be people who have preordered, so I suppose people might be preordering now so that they get access to the closed alpha and can then make a judgement on the game having played it and if they dont like it will then refund their preorder (as Steam allows you to refund any title which hasnt yet been released regardless of how much time you have in it - excepting early access titles)

No idea if thats going to be the criteria for the closed alpha, merely playing devils advocate

.

big maps has sectors not just one flag to hold suspect those are large enough then.
Making these changes makes the game dynamically different.
Looks like a return to the battlefield

It looks really good, but you know its going to be a hot mess on launch day. Wonder if they've learnt anything from BF4 launch.
